Description

The company brings clinical research and health services to communities that often face barriers to care, through hundreds of research locations, mobile clinics and clinicians around the world.

Its Future of Medicine program offers advanced health screenings and research opportunities to communities worldwide, and its Difference Makers program supports local leaders who expand community health and wellbeing efforts.

The Senior IT Systems Engineer will lead the design, rollout and ongoing improvement of core enterprise infrastructure, cloud services and endpoint management. The role drives automation and system hardening, leads the response and root-cause analysis for critical incidents, mentors junior administrators, keeps technical documentation current, and works across teams on business initiatives and platform migrations.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, deploy and improve enterprise systems such as identity, M365, endpoint management and cloud services.
  • Lead upgrades, migrations and new platform rollouts, using clear standards and documentation.
  • Own the operation of critical services, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, root-cause analysis and permanent fixes.
  • Improve uptime, performance and security posture through automation and hardening.
  • Work with Security and Compliance to put controls in place, such as least privilege, patching, logging and access reviews.
  • Manage vendor escalations, evaluate tools, and confirm systems meet internal standards and audit requirements.
  • Mentor junior system administrators and build a knowledge base for new IT hires and self-service guides for end users.
  • Maintain runbooks, SOPs, architecture diagrams and CMDB or service catalog entries.
  • Take part in the on-call rotation, provide escalation support, and contribute to incident postmortems and corrective actions through to completion.
  • Run tool evaluations and proofs of concept, and recommend standards and drive adoption for MDM, EDR, IAM, backup and monitoring.
  • Help build and test business continuity and disaster recovery runbooks, including backup verification, restore tests and DR exercises.
  • Join cross-functional projects such as M&A integrations, system migrations and data center or cloud transitions.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, including identity and IAM, M365, endpoint management, networking fundamentals and directory services.
  • Working knowledge of Azure and/or AWS, including core services, IAM, networking, logging and cost and guardrail concepts.
  • Understanding of security practices such as MFA and conditional access, least privilege, hardening, patch and vulnerability management, and audit logging.
  • Familiarity with ITSM concepts such as incident, problem and change management, SLAs and operational metrics.
  • Knowledge of automation and configuration management, with an infrastructure-as-code mindset, repeatable builds and drift prevention.
  • Ability to design and deliver scalable, secure systems end to end, from requirements through architecture, rollout and runbooks.
  • Strong root-cause troubleshooting across endpoints, identity and authentication, networking, and SaaS and cloud dependencies.
  • Proficiency in scripting for provisioning, reporting and remediation. PowerShell is strongly preferred; Python or Bash is a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability, including log collection, alert tuning and dashboards, and with leading on-call and incident response.
  • Solid documentation skills: clear standards, runbooks, diagrams and change plans that others can carry out.
  • Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum experience: 7+ years in an information technology role.
