Description

The company brings clinical research and health services to communities that often struggle to get care, using research sites, mobile clinics, and clinicians around the world.

The team builds data-driven tools for clinical trials, with a focus on patient enrollment and trial management.

This senior role centers on statistical modeling and machine learning. You will work closely with machine learning engineers and other cross-functional teams to turn complex data into practical tools for the clinical research community, in a heavily regulated health data setting where privacy compliance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Build and refine forecasts for site randomization and enrollment trends so teams can plan staffing and resources across trial sites.
  • Help develop algorithms that match patients to clinical trials or rank them for fit, improving recruitment speed and inclusion.
  • Create and improve predictive models, such as Bayesian approaches, regression, and time-series forecasting, for other clinical trial challenges.
  • Set up monitoring for machine learning models in production to catch bias and performance drift, keeping them fair, accurate, and compliant.
  • Build and tune data pipelines and analysis workflows with AWS Athena, Redshift, SageMaker, and dbt so models can train and deploy at scale.
  • Make sure all data science work meets HIPAA, GDPR, and other privacy rules by building compliance into modeling and data handling.
  • Work with machine learning engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to put models into products and explain insights and recommendations clearly.

Requirements

  • Solid grounding in statistical modeling and machine learning, including Bayesian methods, regression analysis, and time-series forecasting.
  • Skill in evaluating model performance and bias, and in setting up monitoring tools and bias mitigation to keep outcomes ethical and reliable.
  • Advanced Python skills, with libraries such as scikit-learn, PyMC, and mlforecast, plus SQL and familiarity with dbt.
  • Hands-on work with cloud analytics and ML services, especially AWS Athena for querying, Redshift for warehousing, and SageMaker for model development and deployment.
  • Experience handling confidential clinical trial or health data governed by HIPAA and GDPR, with a firm commitment to privacy and security.
  • Strong teamwork and precise written and verbal communication, with a record of partnering with engineering and product teams to turn data science into business decisions.
  • Minimum of a Master's or Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of practical data science or analytics work, preferably in healthcare, clinical research, or another highly regulated data environment.
  • Familiarity with health-tech or trial work, including how clinical trials operate, is highly valuable. A drive to improve patient outcomes through data is also highly valuable.

Conditions

Location is remote within the United States, and 100% of the work is performed from a remote office setup.
