Description

The company works to make health care better and more accessible. It runs hundreds of research sites, mobile clinics, and clinicians around the world, bringing clinical research and health services to communities that often struggle to get care.

Its Future of Medicine program offers advanced health screenings and research opportunities to communities worldwide. Its Difference Makers program supports local leaders who expand health and wellbeing work in their communities.

The team in this role designs end-to-end digital experiences for research participants, members, and the internal staff who support them. You will turn complex and changing needs across health screenings, clinical research, participant engagement, recruitment, member services, and operations into clear, accessible, and intuitive products.

You will report to the Principal Product Designer and work with product, engineering, research, and business or operations partners. You will own assigned design work from problem definition through delivery. Work may cover participant-facing experiences or internal tools used by recruiters, member services, clinical research coordinators, and other staff who support participants.

This is a mid-level role. Your days will move between discovery, workflow definition, interface design, prototyping, feedback, and implementation support. Priorities may shift between products, so you will need to share work early, act on feedback, and work closely with developers to ship practical, high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Build user flows, wireframes, low- and high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and final interface specs, mainly in Figma or similar tools.
  • Explore several concepts, document edge cases and interaction states, act on stakeholder critique and user feedback, and give developers clear behavior, content, and visual details.
  • Use and grow the living design system by choosing established patterns, documenting new reusable components and interaction guidance, and spotting gaps or improvements.
  • Learn the assigned product areas, user needs, operational workflows, and business goals, and become the subject matter expert on them. Review requirements and data, map current journeys to find friction, and ask questions that clarify the outcomes the design must support. Turn these findings into design opportunities and clear problem statements.
  • Help plan research questions and prototypes for user interviews, usability sessions, and stakeholder conversations. Observe or run sessions, capture themes, share findings, and turn insights into prioritized design changes.
  • Work with product managers, engineers, and operations teams to review user feedback, product data, support trends, and implementation quality. Find usability, accessibility, or workflow problems, recommend prioritized fixes, and check that shipped experiences match the approved design and intended outcomes.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A portfolio showing end-to-end product or UX/UI work, covering the problem, your process, key decisions, collaboration, and outcomes.
  • Skill building user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity interfaces, and interactive prototypes in Figma or comparable product design tools.
  • Experience designing responsive, multi-step workflows for participant-facing products, internal tools, or other complex digital products.
  • Ability to apply, document, and extend a design system while keeping to established UI patterns.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility principles and the habit of building accessible interactions and visuals into everyday work.
  • Ability to join user interviews and usability tests, synthesize feedback, and turn it into concrete design improvements.
  • Ability to explain design reasoning clearly, present work remotely, and give and receive specific, constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work well with design, product, engineering, research, and business or operations stakeholders in a remote setting.
  • Ability to work on your own, raise risks or questions early, juggle competing priorities, and adjust when assignments or business needs change.
  • Comfort discussing interaction behavior and technical constraints with engineers. HTML, CSS, or prototyping with code is helpful but not required.
  • Interest in using AI tools to speed up exploration, prototyping, documentation, and iteration while applying sound design judgment.
  • Empathy, respect, good judgment, and a drive to keep learning and improving.
  • Bonus, optional: experience in healthcare, clinical trials, or another regulated, trust-sensitive field; hands-on front-end skills in HTML, CSS, and JS; familiarity with GitHub and version-controlled workflows; native or mobile design experience; startup experience you enjoyed; experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude.
  • Minimum education: GED, to meet the company's minimum requirement.
  • Minimum experience: 2+ years of product, UX, or UI design on digital products within a cross-functional team, including taking assigned work from discovery and concept through detailed design and implementation support.
