Senior Software Engineer, Full-Stack

The company brings clinical research and health services to communities that often struggle to get care, through hundreds of research sites, mobile clinics, and clinicians around the world.

Its work includes a program that offers advanced health screenings and research studies to communities worldwide, and another that helps local leaders grow health and wellbeing efforts in their own areas.

This senior engineering role focuses on building software that makes the company's operations run more smoothly and supports faster progress in clinical research.

You would join an experienced, motivated, cross-functional team that builds user-facing products with full-stack TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Build full-stack web applications in TypeScript, favoring a functional-first style.
• Turn Figma designs into clean, modern, intuitive interfaces, working closely with product designers.
• Build efficient, scalable, and secure backend APIs using Node and PostgreSQL.
• Review code, mentor engineers, and pair with teammates to keep quality and delivery high.
• Improve existing codebases on your own initiative, keeping technical debt low and data models true to the real-world domain.
• Run deployments, take an active part in incident response, and work with DevOps on operations and infrastructure improvements.
• Write and review design documents, and lead technical discussions about system architecture.
• Work with QA engineers so that features are well documented and easy to test.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in modern TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Experience with functional programming techniques.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Ability to work independently in a remote-first team.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• At least 6 years of experience in both front-end and back-end web development.

Conditions

This is a fully remote role open to people located within the United States, and all work must be done from a remote office setup.

Travel is under 10% of the time, and occasional planned trips may be required.

The role requires the ability to use keyboards and other computer equipment.

The pay range is $140,000 - $180,000 USD per year for full-time team members.
