Description

The company is an end-to-end space business that builds its own rockets, spacecraft and critical subsystems for missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond.

This is a senior, onsite role at the Stennis office (STC). You will be the most senior on-site IT support person for the staff there.

You will work closely with the IT Client Services Lead and other IT teams, including Infrastructure and Launch, in a setting that moves quickly.

The role suits someone who wants autonomy and ownership of the site's IT, with the wider IT team available to help on technical solutions.

Curiosity, sound engineering judgement and a drive to keep learning are essential. You will help keep critical systems running for real space technology programs.

Responsibilities

  • Run the day-to-day work that keeps IT services delivered efficiently across the company.
  • Log and update support desk incident, request, problem, change and project tickets, along with the related documentation.
  • Solve complex IT issues on your own when no runbook exists, then write one.
  • Instruct, advise, support and document for teams across the site.
  • Support Launch and Mission Operations during launch periods.
  • Take ownership of on-site clients, servers and network.
  • Build strong working relationships with site leadership, engineers and technicians.
  • Act as the recognised subject matter expert for IT.
  • Own medium to complex projects from start to finish, working with the wider IT team on technical solutions.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
  • You may need to work shifts that include evenings and weekends, and join an on-call rotation when needed.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years in IT support, systems or infrastructure roles, with a STEM degree or an equivalent technical background.
  • Proven experience working with limited onsite supervision.
  • Working knowledge of a service delivery framework such as ITIL, with hands-on practice in formal change, incident, problem and configuration management.
  • Strong, in-depth ability in at least three of the areas below, and working experience in most of them: Windows and Linux desktop and server operating systems, including imaging, maintenance, patching and troubleshooting; PC and server hardware, including build, repair, upgrades and component-level diagnosis; networking, including switching, VLANs, routing basics, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, wireless, PoE, structured cabling, fiber and troubleshooting; scripting and automation, e.g. PowerShell, Python, Bash; Active Directory and Group Policy; monitoring, alerting and observability platforms.
  • Experience owning a medium to complex end-to-end IT project through every phase, from requirements and planning through implementation, testing, stakeholder coordination and ongoing support.
  • Familiarity with common AI platforms, with the ability to write effective prompts, judge AI-generated output and find ways to use AI to improve service delivery and efficiency.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to see the bigger picture and link ideas together.
  • Able to explain complex technical ideas clearly to a general audience.
  • Nice to have: certifications in ITIL, CompTIA (A+, Network+ or Security+), Microsoft, or a network vendor.
  • Nice to have: cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS and O365.
  • Nice to have: virtualisation and public or private cloud environments, including IaaS, and IaC tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Nice to have: industrial or OT environments.
  • Nice to have: video surveillance and NVR platforms, media streaming, and radio or voice comms systems.
  • Nice to have: telemetry, time-series or test data pipelines and storage.
  • Nice to have: security and compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-171, CMMC or ISO 27001.
  • Nice to have: experience in high-tech industries such as semiconductors or aerospace, supporting engineers, labs, manufacturing, and critical operations such as mission control, launch and test.

Conditions

Based onsite at the Stennis office.

The role involves long periods of sitting, standing, walking and computer work, with occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust and fumes in production areas.
