Description

The company is a technology firm that works only with the US federal government, serving defense, national security, public safety, civilian, and military health clients. It is part of the global Accenture group.

The role is a Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) who helps protect digital assets and sensitive information. You will help design, build, and maintain cybersecurity infrastructure and keep up with new threats and trends.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the security engineering subject matter expert for containerized environments, service mesh technologies, and microservices.
  • Design, implement, and manage security controls for containerized workloads, including image scanning, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, endpoint protection, encryption, runtime protection, RBAC, and network segmentation.
  • Build security into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows so they meet RMF, NIST SP 800-53, ICD 503, and FedRAMP requirements.
  • Configure and tune security monitoring and logging, and use container security tools such as Prisma Cloud or similar.
  • Watch network traffic, system logs, and security alerts to spot and respond to incidents. Investigate anomalies and breaches and take steps to reduce risk.
  • Review threat intelligence feeds, analyze threats, and run risk assessments to find emerging threats and weaknesses early.
  • Work with platform engineers, ISSOs, developers, and other cross-functional teams to set, embed, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures across the system lifecycle.
  • Run regular security assessments of container orchestration platforms, microservices, and APIs, then recommend fixes for the weaknesses you find.
  • Write and carry out incident response plans for breaches and other security concerns.
  • Partner with IT, software development, and compliance teams so security is part of every development phase.
  • Keep detailed records of security architecture, control procedures, configurations, and monitoring strategies. Write reports on findings, incidents, and actions taken.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • CISSP, Security+, or an equivalent certification that meets DoD 8140 requirements.
  • 7+ years as a cybersecurity engineer, including designing and building required security controls and running continuous monitoring and audits of solutions against those controls.
  • Hands-on experience securing containerized and Kubernetes environments. OpenShift experience is preferred.
  • Strong skill in setting up log collection into tools such as Splunk, SQL, CloudWatch, Dynatrace, or similar, and querying aggregated logs to find security-relevant anomalies or risks.
  • Strong experience designing and building required controls such as NIST SP 800-53, RMF, ICD 503, FISMA, and FedRAMP, and running continuous monitoring and audits for compliance.
  • Experience implementing controls for cloud, container, and DevSecOps services within IL5 to IL6+ environments.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and infrastructure components.
  • Experience running periodic security checks (daily, weekly, and monthly) to support continuous monitoring.
  • Bonus: proficiency in incident response, security incident handling, and forensic analysis techniques.
  • Bonus: experience with security tools such as Fortify, Acunetix, and Prisma Cloud.
  • Bonus: strong communication skills, able to explain complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Active TS//SCI clearance with a polygraph is required.
