Description

This is a hybrid role that requires working from an office about 2 days per week on average.

The team designs, builds and troubleshoots software for storage products and connects them with other cloud products and solutions. The work covers operating system components, kernel drivers, microservices and applications running in Kubernetes containers, and it includes judging hardware compatibility and shaping hardware design.

The role is at a senior level. Your contributions should be visible in a product or a major subcomponent, and you act as a recognized internal authority on a key technology area.

Responsibilities

  • Define architectures and methods for software design and development that cover several platforms and organizations across the global business unit.
  • Assess new technologies, innovations and outsourced development partners for fit with the technology roadmap and business value, and plan how to bring them into the architecture.
  • Review designs and project work against development guidelines and standards, and give concrete feedback that improves product quality and lowers the risk of failure.
  • Use your domain expertise and business judgment to shape decisions made by senior business leaders, outsourced partners and industry standards groups.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, setting an example of design quality and innovation.
  • Advise engineering teams on security, reviewing architecture, features and technical choices.
  • Own the vulnerability backlog, response and remediation plan for the whole product.

Requirements

  • A master's or PhD in computer science or an equivalent qualification.
  • Specialization in or prior experience with computer or network security is highly desirable.
  • Typically 15+ years of experience.
  • Experience designing and building software systems, tools and languages.
  • Deep, hands-on experience building secure products that meet security protocols, industry standards and best practices.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors and security agencies on certifications and compliance such as FIPS, Common Criteria and DISA STIG.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with the overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
  • Experience designing and integrating software that runs on several platform types into the overall architecture.
  • Experience choosing methods and processes for software testing, including writing and running test plans, debugging, and writing test scripts and tools.
  • A record of innovation, with multiple patents or deployed solutions in software design.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication in English and the local language.
  • Ability to explain product architectures and design proposals, and to negotiate options with business unit and executive leaders.
