Description

The company is an engineering, supply chain and manufacturing partner to major global brands, with 60 years in business and more than 100 sites worldwide.

The role is based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, a site focused on high-mix, low-to-medium volume production for the healthcare, analytical instrumentation and automotive sectors.

The role supports the site's aim of zero accidents, zero environmental incidents and zero non-conformances across occupational safety, industrial safety, industrial hygiene and environmental protection.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop products with performance and ease of manufacture in mind.
  • Build rapid prototypes to speed up new product introductions.
  • Produce top-quality products and components using current automation and process technology.
  • Validate and test products using the company's proprietary, integrated methods.
  • Help customers build in the right location, source suitable materials and reach target markets through digital supply-chain solutions.
  • Keep files and documentation records current as required by company systems and regulators.
  • Spot unsafe behaviors and conditions on site and respond to them.
  • Help develop and introduce general safety policies and procedures for site staff that meet local, state and national safety and health rules.
  • Assess and quantify EHS risks, then help others build solutions and programs to reduce them, giving feedback and expertise. Take part in EHS risk assessments and describe ideal environmental and health and safety conditions.
  • Join cross-functional teams on incident investigations. Lead root cause analysis with tools such as fishbone diagrams and 5 Whys, enter actions in the EHSIP incident management system per policy, and confirm corrective actions are completed and sustained.
  • Support the site hazardous waste system, including its documentation, training, correct labeling and handling, and compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Support the recycling program to find waste reduction, reuse and recycling opportunities.
  • Report greenhouse gas data through the corporate carbon disclosure system.
  • Evaluate new chemicals to confirm current controls are adequate, and identify lower-risk alternatives where needed.
  • Support the Emergency Response Program, including developing and delivering training.
  • Work safely at all times and follow EHS standards, work practices and all other work rules.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, environmental, mechanical or chemical engineering, safety, or another EHS-related discipline.
  • At least 4 years of relevant EHS experience, or equivalent education and training.
  • Manufacturing experience, strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and its requirements.
  • Knowledge of and experience with ISO 14001.
  • Experience with LOTO.
