Description

The company makes intelligent content management software. Its platform helps organizations collaborate on files, manage the full content lifecycle, secure critical content, and run business workflows with enterprise AI.

Founded in 2005, the company is headquartered in Redwood City, California, with offices across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Its customers include global organizations such as JLL, Morgan Stanley, and Nationwide.

The Automate team is one of the company's groups, with about 30 engineers across four specialized teams. It builds the automation engine, the user interface, and the integrations that let customers automate business processes without writing code, with millions of users.

The role is a senior full-stack position with most of the work on the frontend, in React and TypeScript. You will also work on backend design and distributed systems that run the automation engine, handling millions of daily executions.

You will work with product managers, designers, and engineers on automation features, user experience, and enterprise application integrations. Typical workflows include contract management, invoice processing, and employee onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the frontend architecture of the automation product in React and TypeScript.
  • Contribute to backend and distributed systems design discussions.
  • Design and build responsive interfaces that let users create, configure, and monitor complex automated workflows.
  • Work with backend services and distributed systems that power workflow automation.
  • Work with product, design, and infrastructure teams to define requirements, propose technical solutions, and deliver features on schedule.
  • Review code, mentor junior engineers, and shape engineering practices.
  • Join the on-call rotation and respond to production incidents, including evenings and weekends during your on-call week.

Requirements

  • Use AI tools to make faster, smarter decisions and grow your impact tenfold, with a growth mindset. The company is AI-first.
  • At least 5 years of professional software development experience, including full-stack work.
  • Strong skill in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend architecture, with solid knowledge of backend principles, REST APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Work across the full stack at a professional level: lead frontend architecture on your own and understand and interface with backend services and distributed systems independently.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and backend architecture, including API contracts, caching, database design, and asynchronous event processing.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience shaping technical direction beyond your own team through RFCs, design docs, or cross-team work.
  • Manage your own delivery and communicate progress clearly under deadlines.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Work with Scrum, Jira, GitHub Enterprise for issue tracking, knowledge sharing, and code reviews, and Git for version control.
  • Preferred skills (nice to have, not required): experience with workflow automation, business process management, or integration platforms.
  • Strong plus: hands-on Java experience and backend microservices architecture.
  • Preferred: a track record of leading cross-functional projects or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Preferred: experience with enterprise integrations and API design.
  • Preferred: open-source contributions or a strong interest in code quality.

Conditions

Work from your assigned office at least 3 days per week, as the company values in-person collaboration.

Be reachable outside business hours during your on-call week.

The company welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and encourages you to apply even if you are unsure you meet every requirement.
