Senior Frontend Engineer, Engagement

Description

The company is a global, digital-first food company and the largest meal kit provider in its market, serving customers across several brands with meal kits, ready-to-eat meals, meat and seafood subscriptions, and pet food.

You will join the Engagement team, which is turning the app from a weekly subscription tool into a daily food companion for cooking. The work covers finding dinner ideas, turning social media cooking videos into recipes, building a weekly grocery list, and guiding users through cooking with an AI assistant.

The main goal is to improve daily app use, engagement, and retention. You will work with a high degree of autonomy, iterate quickly, and use the company's global infrastructure.

You will work on the customer-facing mobile and web apps using React Native, React, TypeScript, and Next.js for web. You will connect to recipe, search, and personalization services, use experimentation frameworks, and use GenAI tools such as Claude, Cursor, and Figma to speed up architecture, design, and testing. You will work with machine learning, product, and design specialists to ship high-quality frontend work and improve scalability, observability, and AI-supported workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve customer-facing apps with React Native, React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
• Shape frontend architecture and technical direction, plan for platform scale, and set quality standards through code reviews and mentoring.
• Improve how the team works, including production monitoring, alerting, observability, testing, and release processes.
• Work closely with product, design, and other teams to prototype, iterate, and deliver smooth user experiences.
• Promote modern AI tools and workflows across the team to improve speed, code quality, and standards.
• Own complex projects from start to finish, turning a vision into a clear plan and guiding the team to delivery.

Requirements

• Deep experience with React and TypeScript, plus hands-on React Native work and a track record of shipping production frontend apps, designing architecture, and optimizing performance.
• Clear communication and an autonomous approach, including explaining complex technical choices, sharing knowledge, and getting results across teams.
• Hands-on use of modern AI tools and workflows, such as Claude Code and AWS Bedrock, to speed up development and raise standards.
• Practical experience setting up and running monitoring and observability tools in production.
• Strong product and design judgment, with the ability to prototype and iterate on coherent, high-quality customer experiences on your own.
• Bonus: hands-on experience with backend services and APIs, such as Node.js, GraphQL, REST, or serverless architectures, to work across the full stack.
• Nice to have: experience with React Native native module integrations, mobile performance optimization, and mobile rendering patterns such as the New Architecture.
