  • Manage design projects, and prepare and review the work of others.
  • Apply fire engineering across different sectors, with particular attention to UK rules and the UK market.
  • Adapt standard procedures or methods from earlier assignments to build new approaches for unfamiliar problems.
  • Take part in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Lead the preparation of accurate cost estimates for the technical work on projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum: hold a relevant degree or professional qualification.
  • Minimum: have worked in a similar consultancy or another relevant business.
  • Minimum: have a track record across several sectors and in technical fire engineering, especially under UK regulations and in the UK market.
  • Minimum: have managed the fire engineering side of small to medium design projects, meeting agreed deadlines and budgets.
  • Minimum: have guided entry level fire engineers.
  • Minimum: have prepared fee proposals and task variations for fire engineering work.
  • Preferred: a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Fire Engineering or a similar subject.
  • Preferred: professional membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers or the Engineering Council, and progress along the route to Chartership.
  • Preferred: experience leading and closely supervising a team of more junior engineers, on both people and projects.
  • Preferred: a clear work history and proof of ongoing professional development and learning.
