Senior Engineer II, Chromium

Description

The company is a browser security vendor whose platform stops threats across the web, documents and email before they reach users. Its agent runtime security product extends that protection to the AI agents working alongside staff. Its customers include large enterprises and government agencies.

This Senior Software Engineer role sits in the Data Security & AI Engineering team. You will build and harden the runtime features behind the company's AI security platform, where browser engine internals, systems design and AI security meet. The work widens detection against threats such as Prompt Injection and Shadow AI use, spanning C++ browser code, MCP servers, Chrome DevTools Protocol and the cloud systems that run them. You will work with Chromium, AI and security engineers, and use AI tools to speed up development without lowering the bar for quality and security.

Responsibilities

• Build, ship and maintain Chromium browser components in C++, across layers including content, browser, core, compositor, skia and networking, for the company's security and AI features.
• Design and embed controls inside browser execution and agent workflows that detect Prompt Injection and manage Shadow AI activity.
• Apply deep networking and HTTP security knowledge to strengthen browser isolation, proxy and gateway interception, and network-facing infrastructure.
• Work with the agent runtime security team and the AI team to build AI agent capabilities and MCP servers into the security platform.
• Write supporting tools, detection microservices and prototypes in Python or Rust alongside core C++ work.
• Deploy and run AWS and GCP infrastructure with Kubernetes and Terraform so agent, MCP and threat detection workloads stay reliable.
• Debug and tune performance-critical, high-scale systems across the browser and backend infrastructure.
• Work with product, security and AI engineers to deliver features from start to finish.
• Use AI coding tools in your daily work for development, testing and code review.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience, with strong C++ systems programming skills.
• Solid networking knowledge, including HTTP security, web protocols and/or client-side security architecture.
• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Preferred / Nice to Have:
• Experience across Chromium layers such as content, browser, core, compositor, skia and networking, or comparable large-scale, high-performance C++ systems.
• Experience with, or strong interest in, AI/LLM security and guardrails, such as Prompt Injection defense, Shadow AI detection, intent classification, context-aware DLP/PII detection and agentic workflows.
• Python or Rust experience.
• Experience building or integrating AI agents, Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) and MCP servers.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes and Linux.
