Description

The company builds an agentic platform for personalization, with AI agents that serve customers across the whole journey, from search and shopping guidance to marketing workflows, all running on one shared AI engine. It powers personalization for over 1,400 global brands in retail, financial services, hospitality and gaming.

The Infrastructure team runs the core infrastructure of the company's Engagement product on Google Cloud, focusing on security, high availability, cost and scale. Each product team releases, operates and monitors its own applications, and the Infrastructure team gives them a stable base and supports them.

The stack includes Kubernetes on GKE, a range of Google Cloud managed services such as Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Bigtable, Dataflow and Pub/Sub, self-hosted MongoDB, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Etcd, Victoria Metrics, InfluxDB and Sentry, plus Terraform, Python and Golang.

The role is a full-time DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer position on the Infrastructure team.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other engineering teams to design sustainable infrastructure, microservice solutions and a robust production environment.
  • Own maintenance and project tasks from specification to production, using AI assistants to move faster while staying fully responsible for what ships.
  • Automate tools and infrastructure to cut manual work.
  • Monitor applications and take part in an on-call rotation as required.
  • Review design proposals, check application performance and availability, and support developers.
  • Occasionally build core application components, such as logging or authorization.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of production experience with Kubernetes, including running workloads in 24x7 production and understanding what happens beneath deployments.
  • At least 3 years of production experience with a public cloud, ideally GCP, understanding its risks and benefits, working with infrastructure as code, and choosing between managed and self-hosted services.
  • At least 3 years of production experience with Python or Go, enough to read code with confidence and to review and check AI-generated Python for correctness, security and fit, and to build custom tooling with or without AI help.
  • Preferred: GCP experience, since the solution runs on GCP.
  • Good fit: you own tasks independently, use AI as a tool you verify rather than a replacement for your judgment, and can explain every change you make.
  • Good fit: you follow Kubernetes and related technologies closely and attend DevOps conferences.
  • Good fit: you have configured pod and container security context, network policies, roles and role bindings, pod affinity, host paths, pod disruption budgets, priority classes and node taints.
  • Good fit: you have analyzed application resource usage and adjusted requests, limits, HPAs or VPAs.
  • Good fit: you know your clusters well, including node pool machine types, enabled features, versions and node autoscaling, and you have upgraded Kubernetes versions without disrupting live applications.
  • Good fit: you have written a Terraform module with several interconnected resources.
  • Good fit: you have set up monitoring and alerting. On-duty experience is preferred, and experience with Grafana and Prometheus is a plus.
  • Good fit: you have worked with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Terraform, GitLab, Ansible and Docker.
  • Good fit: you have onboarded and trained new team members.
