Senior DevOps Engineer

Description

The company runs a digital marketplace for collectibles, where people can buy, sell, grade, and display items across several categories.

It began with a digital card show and built a digital take on opening physical card packs. It is based in Los Angeles, growing quickly, and profitable.

You will design, build, and run the infrastructure, deployment systems, and internal tooling behind the platform, and you will own key parts of the cloud and delivery setup.

You will lead infrastructure and automation projects from start to finish to improve performance, deployment speed, and developer productivity.

The role suits engineers who work independently, deliver strong results, and look for ways to make systems more reliable and efficient. You will be a go-to partner for engineering and product teams, helping them ship quickly and safely in a fast-moving setting where your work affects uptime and platform health.

Tools in use: AWS (EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, ECR, among others), Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, ChartMuseum, Terraform, GitHub Actions, CircleCI or similar pipeline tools, AWS SSM, AWS Secrets Manager, External Secret Operator, DataDog, Sentry, Cloudflare, AWS CloudWatch, Python, and Bash.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for web, backend, and mobile apps so deployments are reliable and repeatable
• Run Kubernetes clusters so they stay highly available, fast, and able to scale in production
• Write and maintain infrastructure as code in Terraform for the AWS environment
• Design a cloud architecture on AWS that is secure, scalable, and cost-effective
• Create automation scripts and internal tools that cut manual work and improve operations
• Set up and improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response using DataDog, CloudWatch, and Cloudflare
• Investigate production incidents, find root causes, and make fixes that prevent repeats
• Spot infrastructure risks, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt, and fix them before they cause problems
• Work closely with development teams to improve deployment workflows, observability, and readiness for operations
• Encourage DevOps practices, reliability standards, and ownership of operations across engineering
• Document infrastructure design, operating procedures, and system dependencies so the team can keep working smoothly

Requirements

• 6+ years in DevOps, site reliability engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure-focused software engineering
• Solid experience designing and running cloud infrastructure in AWS production environments
• Hands-on experience running Kubernetes clusters at scale
• Proven record building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Strong experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform
• Experience setting up monitoring, logging, and observability in production systems
• Skill in scripting or programming, such as Python, Bash, or similar
• Strong grasp of cloud networking, security best practices, and reliability principles
• Ability to own infrastructure work independently, from design through implementation and operation
• Strong problem-solving skills and clear communication of technical risks, trade-offs, and operational impact
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup while keeping systems stable and operational standards high
• Preferred: experience supporting high-growth or high-availability production environments
• Preferred: experience with cost optimization and performance tuning in AWS
• Preferred: experience leading incident management, on-call practices, or reliability work
• Preferred: experience mentoring engineers or shaping DevOps culture across teams

Conditions

Base salary range: $140,000 - $180,000 USD, as a guideline only

Final pay depends on your skills, experience, and the impact you are expected to have
