Description

The company is a large technology client building Hyperscale Data Center projects and other facilities. You will run the design work on these projects, acting as the client's agent, consultant, adviser and authorised owner's representative from the first design phase in every discipline until handover to the client's construction team.

Most of the work involves managing, coordinating and administering the design consultants the client uses. You will take the program-level Plan of Record and turn it into the design for each specific site. The role suits someone who can lead large coordination meetings across several design disciplines, including page-turn design meetings.

The role is remote, with travel to project sites in and around Atlanta, Charleston and Raleigh. Expect to be on site about 30% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and kickoff workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Run design reviews alongside external partners.
  • Organise and lead large-scale workshops when needed.
  • Write scopes of work for contracts and win agreement from internal stakeholders.
  • Issue contracts and manage them once in place.
  • Set and track deliverables from each party.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, progress and scope.
  • Report on the health of cost, schedule, scope and progress.
  • Assemble effective design teams from matrixed internal staff and choose external partners through strategic procurement.
  • Manage change to project scope and design contracts.
  • Guide technical decisions so they fit project needs.
  • Align design work with procurement and construction.
  • Communicate clearly and openly with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Make sure engineering information reaches the right party, at the right time, in the right format.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or a related field.
  • Professional licensure (PE, NCARB or RA) is strongly preferred, although more than 10 years of significant professional experience may be accepted instead.
  • Experience with data center design or construction is preferred.
  • A strong grasp of construction principles and practices.
  • Experience preparing project plans and specifications.
  • Experience drafting scopes of work.
  • Experience with government regulations.
  • Experience managing several projects at the same time.
  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD is required for drawing reviews and mark-ups.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of the role and must be followed where they apply.

Conditions

The role is fully remote, with regular travel to project sites about 30% of the time.

Equal opportunity employer: applications from all parts of the community are welcome.

Benefits

  • The company promotes a healthy, productive and flexible working environment that supports work-life balance, and gives each person a voice in making change.
