Senior Data Streaming Engineer

Description

The company is a global engineering partner in AI, digital transformation and product engineering, with over 25 years in the field, around 5,000 staff and teams in 16 countries.

Its CEE unit has close to 1,000 specialists who build modern applications, data platforms and AI solutions using AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks and Snowflake.

This role is on a project for an international client whose systems handle events at scale and process data in real time.

You will join the Streaming team, which builds and runs production systems on Kafka-compatible event streaming and Apache Flink. The work combines stream-processing development with running distributed systems, keeping event delivery reliable and managing stateful workloads in the cloud.

Your work is hands-on: production workloads run on AWS and Kubernetes, and you will write services and components in Go.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production-grade event-streaming solutions that are compatible with Kafka.
• Develop and maintain stream-processing applications in Apache Flink.
• Handle partitions, consumer groups, delivery guarantees and schema changes over time.
• Work with event time, watermarks, state and checkpoints.
• Write services and components in Go.
• Deploy and operate streaming workloads on AWS infrastructure.
• Run and troubleshoot workloads on Kubernetes.
• Improve the reliability, scalability and day-to-day stability of distributed streaming systems.
• Investigate production issues and make streaming applications faster and more resilient.
• Work with other engineers to evolve the streaming platform and apply good engineering practice.

Requirements

• You have hands-on production experience with Kafka-compatible streaming technology.
• You understand Kafka fundamentals such as partition handling, consumer group behaviour, delivery semantics and schema evolution.
• You have built stream-processing solutions with Apache Flink.
• You understand Flink event time, watermarks, state management and checkpoints.
• You have practical experience building services or components in Go.
• You have worked with AWS infrastructure.
• You have hands-on Kubernetes experience, including deploying, operating and troubleshooting workloads.
• You have strong problem-solving skills and can work with distributed systems in production.
• You have experience with Kubernetes operators and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs).
• You have experience operating stateful or distributed workloads on Kubernetes.
• You have experience diagnosing performance, reliability and scaling problems in real-time data-processing systems.
• You apply GenAI in a structured way across the SDLC, using defined workflows, prompt patterns or tool integrations in daily work.
• You have used AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality or decision-making in software delivery.
• You are interested in emerging AI-driven practices such as agent-based workflows, automation patterns and AI-augmented development, and are willing to experiment beyond standard approaches.
