This senior data scientist role is based at 811 Excellence Dr., Bentonville, AR 72716.
The team works on analytical models that move from development into production.
Responsibilities
Choose suitable analytical techniques for structured and complex data, and build custom models.
Run exploratory work on available data, covering statistics, hypothesis checks and inference.
Design experiments by picking key dimensions, fixing the design, testing hypotheses and running the analyses.
Find and refine features based on model results, adding new or revised features to improve outcomes.
Measure how variables and features affect performance, and test and tune multi-stage models and ensembles for accuracy, fit, validity and robustness.
Choose evaluation metrics that fit the model goal and business needs, and apply fit, tuning and validation methods such as chi-square tests, ROC curves and root mean square error.
Run trend and cluster analyses on business problems, and turn the results into actionable insights and recommendations.
Apply knowledge of feature relevance and selection, plus methods such as graphical models, Bayesian inference, basic natural language processing, computer vision, neural networks, support vector machines and random forests.
Use multivariate calculus, the statistical basis of machine learning, advanced Excel, R and Python, and optimization methods including Newton-Raphson, gradient descent, linear programming, integer programming and quadratic programming.
Use your understanding of performance drivers, server environments and model storage formats to help models reach production and stay scalable and maintainable over time, including supporting model evaluation.
Build solutions and application features in SQL, Java, C++ and Python, guided by business and domain needs.
Test code with static and dynamic testing, software composition analysis and manual penetration testing to check quality, function and security.
Requirements
Either a master's degree, or its equivalent, in computer science, statistics, any engineering discipline or a related field, plus one year of analytics work or similar experience.
Or a bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, in one of those fields, plus three years of analytics work or similar experience.
Object-oriented coding in Python.
Statistical techniques including probability, hypothesis testing and regression analysis.
Machine learning across supervised, unsupervised and semi-supervised models, including linear and logistic regression, decision trees, support vector machines, and deep learning with PyTorch, TensorFlow and Keras.
Building optimization models and solving them with integer or linear programming.
Clear, informative data visualizations using Seaborn and MATLAB plot.
Writing SQL queries.
Working with large datasets in languages such as PySpark.
Running experiments scientifically and analyzing their results.
Graduate coursework, graduate research or professional experience all count toward these skills, with no minimum amount required.
