The role supports analytics projects for the company's eCommerce business, building the models, algorithms and search systems those projects need.
You will work in project teams and alongside cross-functional partners across the business.
Responsibilities
Analyze large data sets to build tailored models and algorithms that address business needs.
Combine data from internal and external sources into large, complex data sets.
Build algorithms that predict future data characteristics, then test, validate and apply them to large data sets.
Train algorithms so they can be applied to future data and return suitable search results.
Merge feature sets to form the basis of search models.
Build learning systems that analyze and filter continuous data streams and run offline analysis.
Run advanced statistical analysis to find trends and meaningful relationships in data.
Validate models and algorithmic techniques, and scale new algorithms to large data sets.
Model the current state of systems to identify the improvements needed.
Provide analytical support to eCommerce projects and work with cross-functional partners.
Research new industry techniques, best practices and current technology, such as HBase, MapReduce, LAPack and Gurobi, to support assigned projects.
Work with system tools including MySQL, Hadoop, Weka, R, Matlab and ILog.
Requirements
Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics or a related field, plus 1 year of experience in an analytics-related field; or a Bachelor's degree in one of those fields plus 3 years of experience in an analytics-related field.
Experience with scalable analytics, statistical modeling, data visualization and feature engineering, using PowerBI, Tableau, Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Spark and PySpark.
Experience pre-training AI models, including designing distributed training pipelines, curating large-scale data and tuning foundation architectures with PyTorch, DeepSpeed (ZeRO) and Hugging Face.
Experience post-training models and aligning them with human feedback, including supervised fine-tuning, RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) and early transfer learning for domain-specific tuning.
Experience with deep learning and computer vision, building and tuning image classification and feature extraction pipelines with EfficientNet, ResNet and TensorFlow.
Experience with distributed data processing and large-scale data engineering in SQL and NoSQL systems, including query tuning in Hive, BigQuery and Spark.
Experience with NLP, including text classification and sentiment analysis using BERT, RoBERTa and Transformer architectures.
Experience with information retrieval using vector embeddings, cosine similarity and FAISS for high-dimensional semantic search.
Experience processing data at scale in SQL and NoSQL environments, including query optimization and data lake management across Hive and BigQuery.
Experience with computer vision techniques such as YOLO or Mask R-CNN for object detection, instance segmentation and image enhancement.
Experience with cloud model training and inference using managed services in Azure (ML Studio) and GCP (Vertex AI) for lifecycle management.
Experience with version control and SDLC practices using Git, GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience evaluating models with F1-score, ROC-AUC and mAP, and running A/B tests to compare models.
Experience with web crawling and ETL, using BeautifulSoup or Scrapy to pull and structure data from internal and external catalogs.
The company accepts any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research or professional experience that covers the required skills.
