Senior AI Research Scientist - Time-Series Foundational Models

Description

The team builds AI systems that label, predict, classify, cluster, describe and fuse data from many sensor types, including acoustic, telemetry time series, vibration, radar, lidar, image, Wi-Fi and ultrasound. The work supports advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features in vehicles and AI features in other company products.

This is a senior research role with a focus on time-series foundation models (TSFM).

Responsibilities

• Lead research projects that apply AI to multi-sensor data and drive them from idea to results.
• Design, build and validate multi-modal deep learning models and TSFMs for multivariate time series signals, working with both low and high frequency signals.
• Extend time-series models so they draw on video and image data as well, giving them richer context.
• Advise management on relevant technology areas to inform strategy, the R&D roadmap and investment decisions.
• Track the newest developments in the field, then document and share your findings through top-tier publications and/or patent filings.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, information technology or a closely related field, or a Master's degree plus 2 to 3 years of professional experience (preferred).
• Working knowledge of TSFMs that goes beyond forecasting.
• Deep experience applying signal processing to sensor data and combining it with deep learning.
• Skilled in Python and PyTorch, including torchaudio, torchvision and torchmetrics. Familiarity with PyTorch Lightning is needed.
• A strong record of publishing at venues such as ICASSP, NeurIPS, InterSpeech, ICML, ICLR, KDD, ICRA, CVPR, ICCV and ECCV, or equivalent work such as patents or major open-source projects.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Preferred: 3+ years of industrial research experience.
• Preferred: experience in at least one of data-centric AI, synthetic data generation or agentic AI.
• Preferred: proficiency with Git, an IDE such as VSCode or PyCharm, and an experiment tracking tool such as MLflow.
• Preferred: familiarity with high-performance computing systems and job schedulers such as Slurm or LSF.
• Preferred: hands-on product development experience in the areas above for consumer or enterprise markets.
• Preferred: experience leading small teams, mentoring junior researchers and interns, and delivering results on schedule.
