This posting is for an existing vacancy that is open to new applications.
Artificial Intelligence will be used in the hiring process for this role.
The role is hybrid. The successful candidate must work from the office at least three days per week.
The team works on vehicle data operations and helps make them more reliable, observable and scalable. The role also keeps an eye on data product quality alongside vehicle software performance and behaviour.
The role works with vehicle data engineering, software application, program management, systems engineering and quality engineering teams to turn operational needs into pipelines, monitoring, dashboards, alerts and support processes.
Responsibilities
Own the full solution lifecycle: understand the problem, define requirements, map data and system relationships, build and test, deploy, monitor in production, document, and improve reliability, performance, scalability and cost.
Design, run and refine scalable data pipelines, automated workflows, monitoring dashboards, system alerts, analytics queries, testing frameworks and governance standards.
Track vehicle data campaigns, package propagation and eligible vehicle populations across operational systems.
Lead and support data investigations to keep data capture accurate and data quality and integrity high.
Build logging, metrics, dashboards and alerts that improve operational observability and insight into fleet software behaviour.
Combine data from multiple systems to follow vehicle lifecycle states, campaign status, package delivery and operational outcomes.
Set requirements and acceptance criteria for external and dependent teams. Document data flows, lineage, operating procedures and support guidance.
Explain technical findings, risks, limitations and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Share reusable patterns, engineering practices, design guidance and mentoring within the team and across the organization.
Deliver data engineering and observability work with clear acceptance criteria, validation evidence and production support plans.
Improve visibility into campaigns, package propagation, vehicle populations and system health.
Help investigate and resolve data-related production issues.
Improve reliability, performance, scalability, usability and cost of existing data operations and observability solutions.
Reduce manual effort, shorten issue investigation time, improve launch readiness and flag risks earlier.
Strengthen governance through documented definitions, data quality checks, lineage, testing and repeatable operating practices.
Requirements
5+ years of experience building, deploying or supporting software, data engineering, platform or observability solutions.
A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, data science or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
Hands-on experience building and optimizing end-to-end data pipelines in Databricks, including deploying DBX applications and workflows.
Strong SQL skills and hands-on work with large, complex datasets, data pipelines, workflow orchestration or comparable data platforms.
Strong scripting and programming skills in Python, Bash/Shell or similar for automation, data processing, integration, validation and production workflows.
Familiarity with modern deployment practices such as Git-based workflows, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code or Databricks Asset Bundles.
Ability to apply software engineering best practices across development, testing, deployment, documentation, observability and production support.
Ability to work with vehicle-level and population-level data to support operational decisions.
Experience building operational dashboards (Grafana, Datadog, DBX), alerting, logging, monitoring or decision-support solutions.
Proven ability to lead technical work across teams and work well with partners, customers and dependent teams.
Experience in design discussions, code reviews, technical planning, knowledge sharing or mentoring.
You take ownership, communicate clearly, support team development and help build a collaborative, inclusive team.
Preferred: Experience with Azure data services, Data Factory, Datadog, cloud data platforms or workflow orchestration.
Preferred: Experience with vehicle, telematics, diagnostic, warranty, software-version, campaign, package, product-launch or fleet data.
Preferred: Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Buildkite, Azure DevOps or comparable technologies.
Preferred: Experience with Docker or other container technologies, artifact management, automated release promotion, cloud deployment or infrastructure automation.
Preferred: Familiarity with Fluent Bit and its applications, plug-ins and operational tools.
Preferred: Experience designing service-level indicators or operational metrics for connectivity, deployment, coverage, delivery, reporting and campaign health.
Preferred: Familiarity with data modeling, lineage, reusable engineering patterns, scalable solution design and governed catalogs.
Preferred: Familiarity with AI/ML methods that improve detection quality while keeping false positives and operational burden under control.
