Senior Data Engineer

Description

This is a full-time senior role in the Information Technology category, with no travel required.

You will build and run the data pipelines and warehousing that feed the team's work. The work supports customer missions tied to national safety.

You bring a solid background in data engineering, with experience designing, building and keeping pipelines healthy. Deep knowledge of data architecture, warehousing, ETL and big data tools is central to the role. You will partner with data scientists, analysts and other stakeholders to keep data flowing accurately across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain and tune pipelines that pull data from many sources, convert it and load it into the data warehouse.
• Combine large, intricate datasets so they meet functional and non-functional requirements.
• Design and build warehousing solutions that scale and stay dependable.
• Extract data from varied sources, shape it into a usable format and load it into Azure storage such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database or Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Build and maintain pipelines with Azure Data Factory and related Azure technologies.
• Manage and tune databases with attention to quality, integrity and security.
• Automate manual work, speed up data delivery and redesign infrastructure for greater scale.
• Work with data scientists, analysts and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver strong data solutions.
• Document data flows, processes and system architecture so the team can share knowledge.

Requirements

• Required:
• An active DoD Secret clearance.
• A BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics or a related field.
• 7+ years of related experience.
• Strong hands-on ETL experience on Azure, using tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database or Azure Synapse Analytics.
• 6+ years of coding in languages such as SQL, Python, R, SAS and Java Scripts.
• 4+ years on projects involving machine learning, natural language processing, robotic process automation, artificial intelligence, text and/or data mining, or statistical and mathematical methods.
• Ability to write complex database queries in SQL.
• Experience with AI/ML.
• Desired:
• 4+ years of experience working within the DoD or IC community.
• A master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, CS or Data Analytics.
• TS clearance with SCI eligibility.

Conditions

Full-time, regular position.

Minimum clearance needed to start: Secret.

No travel required.

Proposed salary range: $103,800 - $218,100.

Final salary depends on factors including geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior experience, specific skills and competencies, education and certifications.
