Software Test Engineer Intern - Spring 2027

This internship offers hands-on work building and running manual and automated regression tests on modern AI testing platforms.

The company works on software for federal government customers, and the team focuses on delivering high-quality software.

The role suits current students or recent graduates of technology degree programs who learn quickly, think analytically, and want to grow in software testing, AI tooling, and modern development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build, run, and keep up manual and automated regression tests using AI platforms.
• Work with Test Engineers to understand requirements and turn them into useful test cases.
• Keep testing best practices, documentation, and guidelines for AI tool use current.
• Research new testing tools, frameworks, and AI technologies to find better ways to handle testing challenges.
• Help improve testing workflows, processes, and automation approaches.

Requirements

• You are currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university program in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related technology field.
• You have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• You must already hold legal work authorization in the United States, with no sponsorship from the employer now or in the future.
• Experience with software testing or web development is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI tooling, or interest in AI-driven testing approaches, is a plus.
• Living in or near the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area is a plus.
• Desired: a minimum 3.0 GPA, which is preferred but not required.
• Desired: previous internship, co-op, or other work experience.
• Desired: leadership and teamwork skills, interpersonal communication skills, and professional, community, or extracurricular activities.

Conditions

This is an Intern/Co-op position that is part-time and on-call.

No travel is required.

The minimum clearance needed to start is Secret.

The role can be worked from more than one location, so the salary range shown is the national average for the position.

The proposed salary range is $39,900-$79,900.

Final pay can depend on location, federal government contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant prior experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
