Description

The company is hiring a senior data architect with strong Java skills to lead the design, build, and rollout of secure, scalable enterprise Java applications.

You will give technical direction, mentor development teams, and set software architecture practice.

The role centres on shaping and tuning the company's data platforms, including its large-scale data lake and analytics environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set and update the technical architecture and roadmap for the enterprise data lake and analytics platform, aligned with cloud-native and hybrid-cloud plans and worked out with enterprise architects.
  • Design and build fast, scalable, secure Java microservices on Spring Boot that process large data volumes, turning complex business needs into sound technical solutions.
  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of data engineers, building a habit of technical quality, ongoing learning, and agile delivery.
  • Build and run batch and real-time streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Iceberg, Starburst, and Startree/Apache Pinot.
  • Improve storage and query speed across data lakes and lakehouses, including Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Snowflake, and Databricks.
  • Work with data scientists, AI researchers, product managers, and business leaders to turn analytical needs into scalable platform capabilities.
  • Assess and prototype new data technologies and frameworks so the platform stays current.

Requirements

  • Expert Java skills, with deep knowledge of the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud) and microservices design patterns.
  • Hands-on experience building and scaling distributed data lakes, covering orchestration, ingestion, processing, and distribution.
  • Deep expertise in Apache Iceberg, Startree/Apache Pinot, and Hive/HDFS, with a solid grasp of distributed computing.
  • Production experience with Apache Kafka and Apache Flink.
  • SQL proficiency, experience on AWS, Azure, or GCP, and working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, or data platform development, including at least 3 years in a technical lead or lead engineering role.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related quantitative field.
  • Beneficial: expert-level SQL is a must have; Java and PySpark are good to have; Python is appreciated, including Python alongside Java-based workflows.
  • Beneficial: working knowledge of Databricks for large-scale processing and analytics.
  • Beneficial: experience building production data infrastructure for machine learning, advanced analytics, or AI.

Conditions
