Senior Data Analyst, Fixed Term - Toronto

This is a 3 month fixed-term salaried contract based in Ontario, Canada, preferably in Toronto.

In this role you will turn raw data into trusted, well-structured datasets using dbt, then design, build, and check customizable dashboard templates on top of them. You will work with product, client-facing, and engineering teams to turn client needs into reliable dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Collect and write up how clients will use dashboards, working with relationship managers and client-facing teams, and convert those needs into clear reporting requirements.
• Build and maintain dbt models that move raw source data into staging, intermediate, and reporting layers that feed dashboards.
• Design the reporting layer so it can be configured for each client.
• Add data quality tests, validation checks, and monitoring to the transformation layer.
• Design, build, and test reusable dashboard templates with a configurable layer for client-specific needs.
• Help run demos, capture requirements, and carry out follow-up analysis.
• Check that data and visuals in migrated dashboards match the legacy versions.
• Document models, templates, and configuration, including dbt model documentation and lineage, in a clear and consistent way.
• Track delivery risks, dependencies, and priorities, and report status to program leadership.

Requirements

• 5+ years as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, Analytics Engineer, or in a similar role.
• 2+ years building production dashboards in an enterprise BI platform.
• 2+ years of hands-on dbt work, including models, tests, macros, and documentation.
• Advanced SQL, including tuning query performance on large datasets.
• Proven experience modeling raw, unprepared data for reporting and analytics, such as dimensional modeling and star schemas.
• Experience with Git-based version control and code review workflows.
• Experience working with a cloud data warehouse.
• Experience gathering requirements from non-technical and client stakeholders.
• Strong documentation habits.
• Clear communication, including with senior stakeholders.
• Ability to deliver independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal ramp-up.

Conditions

The anticipated pay range for this role is $55 per hour, based on a 40-hour workweek.

Pay depends on factors such as relevant experience, expertise, organizational impact, and level, and the company is open to discussion.

The role is a 3 month fixed-term salaried contract, based in Ontario, Canada, with a preference for Toronto.
