The company builds software for AI-enabled software-defined vehicles and has its technology running in more than 9 million vehicles on the road today, with that number growing quickly.
Headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA, the company has 250+ employees worldwide. It is well funded and works with leading automotive OEMs on large programs.
This role supports one of the largest OEM programs. You will be based on-site at the customer's engineering facility, working alongside their teams, and you will act as the local technical contact for the cloud platform.
Responsibilities
Own and develop the program's GCP platform, including GKE, IAM, Vertex, networking, and supporting services, with attention to reliability, security, and cost.
Build and maintain infrastructure as code in Terraform, keeping all environment configuration reviewed, versioned, and reproducible.
Run the platform with GitOps practices using Argo CD and Helm, so environment state is declarative and every change traces back to a commit.
Design and maintain CI/CD automation that moves services from commit to deployment with little manual work, including progressive delivery such as blue/green and canary rollouts.
Build observability and alerting so both the company and the customer can see system health, and lead troubleshooting when incidents occur.
Act as the on-site owner for cloud access and environment issues, coordinating permissions, provisioning, and workflow questions with the customer's IT and platform teams.
Manage AI resources for the program, including model access, GPU and accelerator capacity, quotas, and API keys across Vertex and other model services. Track usage and spend so teams have the capacity they need within budget.
Optimize AI model deployment and serving for latency, throughput, and cost. Work on model selection, right-sizing, batching, caching, and quantization, and measure results against agreed benchmarks.
Automate recurring operational tasks to reduce toil, so developer velocity does not depend on manual steps.
Work with company engineering teams in California, Ireland, Korea, and India to keep the on-site environment in line with the wider platform.
Requirements
You have 7+ years of experience building and running production cloud infrastructure, with a strong background in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE.
You have deep, hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, such as GKE, IAM, VPC networking, or Cloud Build. AWS or Azure experience is welcome, but GCP depth is required.
You have strong Terraform skills and a record of managing real production infrastructure as code.
You have practical experience with GitOps tools such as Argo CD, Flux, and Helm, and you prefer declarative, version-controlled operations.
You have solid Kubernetes and container experience, including deploying, scaling, securing, and debugging real workloads.
You have strong automation and scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash, and you look for ways to remove manual steps.
You have built and maintained CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar.
You can work independently in a customer environment. You communicate well, judge well what to escalate, and can work directly with a partner's engineering and IT teams.
You have experience with ML or AI workloads running on cloud infrastructure.
You have worked embedded at, or delivered into, a large enterprise or automotive customer environment.
You are familiar with cloud cost management and FinOps practices.
You have security and compliance experience in a regulated or enterprise setting.
