Senior Business Analyst (FO, Metals Trading)

The client is a large North American financial services firm across personal, commercial, wealth management and capital markets. After recent acquisitions it has expanded internationally and is running an AI-first strategy, including a new institute for applied AI and quantum computing aimed at productivity and personalised digital experiences for millions of customers worldwide.

This is a senior business analyst role in front-office metals trading, centred on physically settled transactions.

Responsibilities

• Act as the subject matter expert for metals trading, covering precious and base metals.
• Concentrate on physically settled metals deals and the front-office processes around them.
• Elicit, analyse and write up requirements from traders and other key stakeholders.
• State scope, assumptions and dependencies clearly for each requirement.
• Assess how upstream and downstream systems affect business processes.
• Work with technology teams to find and push forward system improvements for metals trading.
• Stay in close contact with developers so requirements are understood and built correctly.
• Help roll out solutions and make sure business users adopt them.
• Analyse data to inform trading strategy and risk management.
• Use analytical and problem-solving skills to improve processes and results.
• Work with traders and stakeholders to keep operations smooth and compliant with regulations.
• Handle change requests and run structured change management.
• Plan and carry out testing.
• Support business users through UAT so solutions meet requirements.
• Help assure quality so deliverables are production-ready.

Requirements

• Proven experience in metals trading, ideally with physically settled metals.
• Solid grasp of banking and capital markets products for commodities.
• Track record of gathering, documenting and managing business requirements.
• Experience with change management and change requests.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and spoken communication.
• Able to work well with developers, traders and stakeholders.
• Experience working in front-office trading environments.
• Exposure to complex trading system integrations and data flows.
• Prior experience supporting UAT on capital markets platforms.
• Experience with Openlink Endur is a strong asset.
• Testing and quality assurance experience is a plus.
• Detail-oriented, focused on high-quality output.
• Self-starter who does well in a collaborative team.
• English at Upper-Intermediate level.
