Senior Business Analyst (Data) - Temporary replacement (6 months)

Description

Freelance role, full-time, for an expected 6 months, starting as soon as possible.

The company is an experience innovation firm and a trusted partner to some of the world's best-known brands, working across data, AI, creativity and technology.

You would join a delivery squad building a Loyalty Revenue Accounting solution on Databricks. The solution pulls data from the loyalty platform and other source systems to produce the journals and reports Finance relies on.

The company works across borders, so collaboration is set up to run smoothly across its global teams.

Responsibilities

• Set the data requirements for the data platform with Finance product teams and architecture stakeholders.
• Define business logic in terms precise enough to test, covering calculations, allocations and how transactions are handled.
• Produce source-to-target mapping specifications: field-level mappings, transformations and reference data.
• Write requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria in Jira, detailed enough for engineers to build from and testers to check against.
• Keep traceability from business need to requirements, mappings and design, and update the documentation as requirements change.
• Spot gaps, edge cases and anomalies early, and bring options and their impact to the team.
• Partner with the product manager, engineers, architects and QE through delivery, answering questions and checking what is built against the requirements.
• Help run walkthroughs and sign-off with Finance and other business stakeholders.

Requirements

• You have proven experience as a business analyst on data-focused projects such as data platforms, data warehouses or data migrations.
• You have defined both business logic and data mapping logic, not only high-level process requirements.
• You write strong requirements and manage them in Jira.
• You can read and reason about data structures, tables and fields, and you have working knowledge of SQL.
• You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You have worked in an agile delivery team where requirements iterate.
• You have experience with Databricks or a similar cloud data platform.
• You have experience in finance, revenue accounting or accounting journals.
• You have experience with loyalty, airline or travel data.
• You are familiar with event-driven or streaming data sources.
• You enjoy questioning the status quo and solving problems with a curious mind.
• You are happy to share knowledge and work as part of a team.
• You enjoy the overlap of technology, finance and data.
• Agile and consulting experience is a plus.
