Description

The company is a large manufacturing, supply chain and engineering services provider with 60 years in business and more than 100 sites worldwide.

The team is modernising legacy.NET services into a cloud-native architecture on.NET 10, Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

The project is a large refactor of the XiO Cloud platform, with focus on code quality, architectural consistency, infrastructure reliability and delivery speed.

This is a mix of hands-on engineering and technical leadership. You will own code reviews across application code, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines, and work with engineers at every experience level to keep work aligned with architecture, engineering standards and security practices.

A large part of the job is reviewing complex pull requests, spotting risks and giving practical technical guidance to the development team.

Responsibilities

  • Review complex pull requests covering.NET/C application code, Terraform infrastructure and CI/CD pipeline configuration, checking technical correctness and code quality.
  • Check that changes match architectural patterns and engineering standards.
  • Review Terraform configurations, module layouts, state management and infrastructure changes for risk.
  • Assess GitHub Actions workflows, deployment settings and automation for reliability, security and upkeep.
  • Catch infrastructure drift, security weaknesses, breaking configuration changes and deployment problems before they reach production.
  • Help improve and standardise Terraform conventions, reusable modules and CI/CD practices.
  • Coach engineers through code review comments, technical discussions and pair programming.
  • Build and maintain.NET services, Azure infrastructure and deployment automation.
  • Help move legacy.NET services to.NET 10 on Azure Kubernetes Service.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering output and code review work.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software or cloud engineering experience, with deep hands-on work in Microsoft Azure.
  • Advanced Terraform skills: Infrastructure as Code, reusable module design, state management, infrastructure planning and code review.
  • Strong GitHub Actions experience, including reusable workflows, self-hosted or managed runners, secrets management, OIDC authentication and environment-based deployment controls.
  • Solid CI/CD experience, including deployment automation and release management with Octopus Deploy or a comparable tool.
  • Strong working knowledge of C and.NET, enough to review application code, find implementation problems and check adherence to architectural standards.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes and AKS experience, covering deployment, configuration and troubleshooting of containerised applications.
  • Experience reviewing complex pull requests across application code, cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of cloud security, including Azure Key Vault, managed identities, access management and logging and retention requirements.
  • Ability to spot infrastructure drift, configuration inconsistencies, security risks and deployment issues.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools and reviewing AI-generated code.
  • Solid grasp of software engineering practice, maintainability, code quality and architectural consistency.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, giving constructive review feedback and driving consistent standards across teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with a detail-oriented and collaborative style.
  • Be alert to recruitment fraud. The company contacts candidates only through its official job portal, a direct call from a the company team member, or email from a the company's site address. The company never asks for payment during hiring or for personal identifiers such as a social security number, birth certificate, bank details, driver's licence or passport information by phone or email. Report suspicious listings to the site where they appear.
