Description

You will lead the aviation practice for the region from the Atlanta location, working to grow the business and strengthen relationships with clients.

You will work day to day with the East Region Aviation team and, when needed, with the national aviation team, overseeing planning, design, coordination and construction across a varied set of airport infrastructure projects.

The role also gives room to provide technical direction, bring new ideas into the practice and coach early-career staff.

This position also serves as a Client Account Manager (CAM) in the company's growth program, a visible and strategic role focused on expanding client relationships, leading business development and shaping the company's internal growth plans.

Success here depends on a client-first approach, spotting and pursuing new work, and consistently giving clients and stakeholders strong value.

The company is a Fortune 500 infrastructure consultancy with fiscal year 2025 revenue of $16.1 billion and more than 50,000 planners, designers, engineers, scientists and program and construction managers. It works in water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings, from advisory and planning through design, engineering, program management and construction management.

Responsibilities

  • You will manage design work on airport projects covering runways, taxiways, aprons, terminals and related facilities.
  • You will act as a subject matter expert and technical lead within the civil aviation engineering group.
  • You will plan and direct design work, including airfield layout, site grading, drainage, pavement design and stormwater management.
  • You will make independent engineering decisions and solve difficult technical problems.
  • You will coach and develop staff and help build a team culture that supports cooperation, initiative and professional growth.
  • You will coordinate with clients, agencies, the FAA and other stakeholders.
  • You will plan staffing and workload across the life of each project, keeping to schedules and budgets.
  • You will control cost, scope, schedule and quality on each project.
  • You will develop strategy, write proposals, negotiate contracts and deliver projects.
  • You will build and keep credible, lasting relationships with key aviation clients.
  • You will use a consultative sales approach to build business cases that show the value of the company's services and win targeted work.
  • You will match the company's capabilities to client goals and key initiatives.
  • You will bring drive and an entrepreneurial approach to leading and supporting pursuits.
  • You will contribute to proposals alongside capture managers, marketing and sales operations, and operations staff.
  • You will track industry and business trends and use them to guide direct sales activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field, plus ten years of relevant civil experience, or equivalent experience and education.
  • Ten or more years of project management and team leadership in the aviation sector.
  • US citizenship is required because of the projects tied to this role.
  • A valid US driver's license is required to visit project sites, clients and company offices.
  • Preferred: experience in airport or airfield civil design, a solid grasp of FAA standards, and the ability to lead projects and teams collaboratively.
  • Preferred: experience in operational leadership and business development for professional services.
  • Preferred: experience leading teams, working in a fast-paced setting with little supervision.
  • Preferred: ability to explain problems clearly and simply to clients, leadership and technical staff.
  • Preferred: experience juggling several projects and business priorities, handling competing deadlines while keeping quality, professionalism and client service high.
