Senior AI Engineer, Vice President

Description

The company is building a new AI system that will power one of its global lending platforms. The role is senior and hands-on, and it sits within a large global financial institution.

You will help lead a team of software developers, shape architecture and technical direction, mentor engineers, and work closely with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build software components and applications for AI systems, with the main emphasis on data.
• Create MCP (Model Context Protocol) tools and AI agents that use that data to solve business problems.
• Act as a senior, hands-on technical leader in a SCRUM team: own complex, unclear problems and take features from design to production-grade delivery.
• Work at pace on delivery, balancing speed against engineering quality, and spot and fix technical risks before they affect delivery.
• Lead code reviews, guide technical discussions, and help set shared engineering standards. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
• Work with product owners, architects, and senior stakeholders to turn business requirements into scalable, resilient technical solutions.
• Make sound calls on architecture, design trade-offs, and technology, weighing short-term delivery against long-term platform health.
• Enforce engineering rigor across the team, covering testing, observability, security, and readiness of AI systems for production.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a software engineer, with a growing record of scope, ownership, and technical leadership.
• Experience in complex enterprise environments, working with global teams.
• Experience applying large language models (LLMs) to real business problems, from early idea through to production.
• Deep knowledge of the Python AI/ML ecosystem, including Pydantic, REST API integration, database access, and orchestration frameworks such as ADK or LangGraph.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex enterprise data.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers, shaping technical direction, and setting engineering standards within a team. This is a big plus.
• A good team player who can also work with full autonomy and ownership, equally effective in the office or remote.
• Structured, analytical thinker with sound judgment, able to research, evaluate, and master new technical areas on your own.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills in English.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
