Senior AI Developer

Description

The role centres on building, deploying and maintaining machine learning and AI solutions that address real business problems for clients. You will work with senior data scientists, engineers and consultants across the whole lifecycle, from data preparation and model development to production deployment and monitoring.

The team operates across public and private sectors, delivering work from application development and cloud migration to programme delivery and service operations.

Responsibilities

• Help design and build data science and AI solutions, turning defined requirements into working technical components.
• Apply established data science and machine learning methods to analyse data and solve business problems, under the direction of senior team members.
• Build, test and help deploy machine learning models into production. Help design and maintain MLOps pipelines so solutions stay scalable and easy to maintain.
• Work with clients and internal teams to pin down requirements, and explain technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Apply responsible AI principles and help meet governance and compliance standards in AI and ML work.
• Mentor and guide junior data scientists and engineers, helping build a culture of technical excellence.

Requirements

• You must be eligible for security clearance.
• You are proficient in Python and C. SQL or R is a plus.
• You have experience with cloud AI services such as Azure ML, AWS SageMaker or GCP Vertex AI.
• You have hands-on experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• You have practical knowledge of techniques including regression, decision trees, random forest, XGBoost, k-means, anomaly detection and time series forecasting.
• You understand model evaluation and explainability, including overfitting, bias and cross-validation.
• You have built end-to-end observability and monitoring for AI systems.
• You have worked with large, complex or messy datasets.
• You know the challenges and opportunities facing public sector organisations.
• You have worked with public sector data.
• You know public sector regulations and compliance requirements.
• You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• You communicate and build relationships well.
• You can work independently and as part of a team.
• You are committed to continuous learning and development.
