Data Scientist – Text mining/NLP

The Belgian team has more than 600 tech specialists working mainly on international projects for European Institutions.

The role is in text mining and NLP, building AI and machine learning models for large-scale projects that affect millions of citizens worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and improve advanced AI, NLP and ML models, including LLMs and RAG frameworks.
• Build methods for tokenisation, part-of-speech tagging, named entity recognition, classification, clustering and other text mining tasks.
• Fine-tune pre-trained models for domain-specific tasks.
• Follow research and new developments in NLP, ML and AI.
• Write reliable, scalable and efficient Python code.
• Work with cross-functional teams to add AI and ML solutions to existing products and services.
• Run careful analysis and experiments to raise model accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
• Take part in peer reviews and help keep improving AI solutions.
• Help design the architecture and solution stack for ML applications.
• Produce reports and visualisations that explain findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of hands-on experience in data science, advanced analytics and/or AI/ML engineering.
• Excellent English.
• Experience in machine learning and natural language processing.
• Excellent Python skills and libraries such as Pandas, SpaCy, NLTK and Hugging Face.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks for complex architectures, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience with AI-powered code assistants such as Amazon Kiro or Github Copilot, and keeping up with advances in AI-driven coding.
• Good knowledge of SQL tools, Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch and MongoDB, and of designing scalable ML solutions, including model servers and GPU resource optimisation.
• Experience with A/B testing and experimental design for ML models, pre-trained models and LLMs such as GPT and other Transformer-based architectures.
• Experience creating data visualisations with Matplotlib and Seaborn.
• Strong understanding of linguistics and text processing techniques.
• Proficiency in continuous code delivery and unit testing.
