Description

Join the UK Data and AI service line of the company, helping to shape large AI and data transformations for FTSE 100 organisations and other enterprise clients.

The team is growing quickly as clients look to us to design, build and scale modern AI solutions across their businesses.

You will work in a high-performing group of consultants and engineers who advise on and build AI strategy, AI engineering, GenAI solutions and AI architecture.

The role is not tied to one platform. Experience with Anthropic Claude, OpenAI models such as Codex and GPT, and other frontier or open-source LLMs is useful, but the main requirement is a solid grasp of core AI engineering principles that you can apply across different ecosystems.

This suits someone who writes strong code, can explain complex ideas to non-technical audiences, understands AI and GenAI systems and their architecture, has built production-grade agentic AI, and can take work through the full cycle from strategy to design, build, deployment and scale.

As a senior member of the practice, your work will cover client delivery, business development, people development and thought leadership. Your scope will depend on your experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead AI-driven transformation engagements from strategy and architecture through to hands-on build and production deployment.
  • Design and build end-to-end AI solutions in Python and TypeScript/JavaScript, including agentic systems, automation workflows, RAG pipelines and model orchestration layers.
  • Guide clients through complex technical decisions and make sure solutions fit into their enterprise systems.
  • Own delivery quality, timelines, risks and the overall success of each engagement.
  • Act as a trusted AI engineering and GenAI expert in pre-sales and sales work, helping find opportunities and shape solution approaches.
  • Contribute to proposals, RFP responses and go-to-market initiatives, and build demos, prototypes and technical narratives that show what modern AI solutions can do.
  • Support the growth of the Data and AI business across key accounts.
  • Help shape the AI and GenAI propositions, bringing new approaches to agentic systems, retrieval architectures, evaluation frameworks and enterprise AI engineering.
  • Contribute articles, insights and event talks, and help create reusable accelerators, toolkits and playbooks for common client problems.
  • Mentor consultants and engineers, share best practice and give technical guidance across architecture, engineering and delivery.
  • Help build internal capability through knowledge sharing, training and reusable methods and frameworks.
  • Where appropriate, take on line management and career development within the practice.
  • Keep up with the fast-changing AI and GenAI field, including LLMs, agentic systems, RAG patterns, evaluation techniques and cloud-native AI tools, and bring useful new ideas into client work and internal practice.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on programming skills in Python and TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Proven experience building AI and LLM-powered applications that run in production.
  • Deep knowledge of AI and GenAI fundamentals, including how models behave, their limits and how to evaluate them.
  • Experience designing and building RAG systems, agentic workflows and multi-step reasoning systems, and tool-using AI applications.
  • Strong system design and architecture skills across APIs, data pipelines and distributed systems.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Solid practice in software engineering, including testing, CI/CD and version control.
  • Ability to make technical trade-offs between cost, latency, accuracy and scalability.
  • Experience in client-facing or consulting work, and in leading teams and projects.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Desirable: experience across multiple AI platforms, such as Claude, GPT and open-source models.
  • Desirable: familiarity with orchestration frameworks such as LangChain and LlamaIndex.
  • Desirable: experience optimising AI systems for performance, cost and reliability.
  • Desirable: knowledge of enterprise architecture and regulated environments.
  • Desirable: experience with AI agents, copilots or automation systems.
  • Desirable: exposure to AI governance, safety and responsible AI practice.
  • Desirable: contributions to thought leadership, open-source work or internal capability building.
