Security Software Engineer

Description

The company has delivered IT and business intelligence solutions for over 30 years. It is part of a larger parent's global services unit and employs about 500 people who serve 75 defense, commercial and government clients across more than 50 US locations and 9 countries.

You will support security engineering for the team's GDSS program, the primary US Air Force Air Mobility Command command and control system. It covers mission planning and command and control for airlift, airdrop and air refueling, and runs across many regions.

Your work keeps operations secure in an AWS environment known as Cloud One, in line with current Department of War cybersecurity requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage security controls within CI/CD pipelines, working with DevOps, engineering and compliance teams.
• Find, assess and fix security vulnerabilities and misconfigurations across AWS environments.
• Coordinate work on the quarterly DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides and write plans of action to reach compliance.
• Review Nessus scan results and coordinate fixes and burndown of findings.
• Monitor cloud security posture with AWS tools such as Security Hub, GuardDuty and Config, plus Trend Micro Deep Security.
• Apply AWS security best practices that match company policy and industry standards.
• Maintain AWS security policies covering IAM, security groups and network ACLs.
• Design, deploy and run encryption for data at rest and in transit within AWS.
• Write and maintain documents covering cloud security architecture, policies and procedures.
• Track new cloud security threats, vulnerabilities and industry trends.

Requirements

• 5+ years implementing and sustaining secure development and operations, including scanning and vulnerability remediation.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance.
• A bachelor's degree or higher.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent education.
• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Preferred: prior experience supporting GDSS or MAFC2 systems.

Security clearance: you must be able to obtain a US Secret clearance, and the US Government requires US citizenship for it. An interim and/or final Secret clearance is required after start.

Export control: you must be a US Person under 22 C.F.R. §120.62, which includes US citizens, US nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees and asylees.
