Description

The company is looking for an experienced Digital Delivery Manager to help deliver complex projects and programmes for Defence clients.

The role spans project management, programme coordination, delivery management, operational management and business analysis, so you will adjust your approach to each Defence assignment.

Depending on the engagement, you might run a defined project or workstream, coordinate a wider programme, improve how operations are delivered, or help define and rank requirements for digital and data-enabled change in secure, regulated settings. You will work with Defence clients, delivery partners and mixed teams to bring clarity and set up sound delivery controls.

The ideal person is digitally and data literate, works well with both technical and non-technical colleagues, and handles complex Defence stakeholder groups. Deep experience in digital, data or transformation delivery is highly desirable. A background in Defence, National Security, Secure Government or a similar regulated sector is an advantage, but candidates with transferable delivery experience will also be considered.

Across more than 130 countries, the company supports large international clients with demanding, technical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or coordinate delivery of projects, programmes, workstreams or operational services, keeping a clear grip on scope, outcomes, priorities, plans, resources and dependencies.
  • Meet Defence clients and stakeholders to grasp operational and business problems, set objectives, and turn needs into workable plans, products, services or process changes.
  • Set up and run proportionate delivery controls covering plans, governance, reporting and the registers for risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, decisions and change control.
  • Lead teams spanning several disciplines and delivery partners, clear blockers and keep work moving toward agreed outcomes.
  • Gather, check and rank business and user requirements, keeping each one traceable through delivery and rollout.
  • Help build digital, data and reporting solutions by linking business users with analysts, architects, engineers, product specialists and change staff.
  • Set measurable outcomes, benefits, performance measures and success criteria, and use evidence to guide decisions and show value.
  • Plan and run implementation, handover, adoption and business change so new capabilities become part of daily operations.
  • Develop trusted relationships with senior Defence stakeholders, give clear evidence-based advice, and explain challenges, trade-offs and recommendations plainly.
  • Improve ways of working in operational management, clarify roles and processes, track performance and drive ongoing improvement.
  • Lead in a collaborative, inclusive way: set direction, coach and mentor people, and help them take ownership.
  • Contribute to client relationship building, mobilisation, proposals and wider capability growth where relevant.

Requirements

  • Essential: proven delivery of change in at least one of project management, programme management, delivery management, operational management or business analysis.
  • Essential: experience coordinating several activities, teams or workstreams while keeping a coherent view of priorities, plans, dependencies and outcomes.
  • Essential: able to bring order to unclear situations, work on your own initiative and keep delivery moving in a complicated stakeholder setting.
  • Essential: demonstrable digital and data literacy, confident working with technical specialists, and understanding how technology, data and reporting drive business outcomes.
  • Essential: experience gathering, analysing and ranking business or user requirements and turning them into clear objectives or workable solutions.
  • Essential: experience setting proportionate governance and managing risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, decisions and change.
  • Essential: strong stakeholder management and communication, able to engage and influence senior, technical and operational audiences.
  • Essential: experience defining outcomes, benefits, measures or indicators and using them to inform decisions and ongoing improvement.
  • Essential: experience working with multidisciplinary teams and, where relevant, several suppliers or delivery partners.
  • Essential: collaborative, accountable and adaptable, willing to coach colleagues, share knowledge and improve ways of working.
  • Desirable: substantial experience in digital transformation, data-enabled change, software implementation, product or service delivery, or technology-enabled business change.
  • Desirable: experience in Defence, ideally with the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces, a Defence prime or the wider Defence supply chain. Experience in National Security, Secure Government, critical national infrastructure or another secure, regulated environment is also valuable.
  • Desirable: experience across both embedded client assignments and outcome-based project or programme delivery.
  • Desirable: knowledge of Agile, product-led, waterfall or hybrid approaches, and the judgement to apply them proportionately.
  • Desirable: experience with data governance, information management, reporting, analytics or digital adoption.
  • Desirable: commercial awareness from consulting, client delivery, supplier management, mobilisation or proposal work.
  • Desirable: relevant professional accreditation in project, programme, Agile, product, business analysis, service management or change delivery.
  • Must hold UK Security Clearance and be able to work within the security and site-access requirements of the client programme.

Conditions

Expect regular attendance at client sites and travel to Defence locations across the United Kingdom, depending on what each assignment needs.

The working setup is flexible and aimed at good health and productivity, with respect for work-life balance.

The company is an equal opportunity employer that welcomes applications from all backgrounds, and no recruitment agency working with it may charge candidates a fee.

Benefits

  • Hold a central leadership position on a major Defence programme.
  • Help shape how complex digital and data capabilities are delivered, adopted and improved.
  • You will have direct contact with senior Defence stakeholders and seasoned cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Build your leadership, consulting and technical delivery skills across project, programme and portfolio work.
  • Help grow the wider Digital Delivery capability within a global professional services organisation.
