Description

This Scrum Master role supports Agile teams in following Scrum principles. You will help the team remove obstacles, improve collaboration and communication, and focus on delivering high-quality work in iterations.

You will run Scrum events, drive continuous improvement, and act as the link between the team and external stakeholders.

This is an Assistant Vice President level role. You will advise on decisions, contribute to policy, own operational effectiveness, and work closely with other functions and business divisions.

The team works within the company's digital landscape, where technology is used to improve digital products and customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Run Scrum events as needed, making sure each one happens, stays positive and productive, and keeps to its timebox.
  • Keep ceremony artefacts high quality, maintain backlog refinement, and turn stakeholder feedback into iteration work that delivers customer value.
  • Spot conflicts that slow the team down, help resolve them, and use metrics to help the team communicate clearly and make all work visible.
  • Identify risks and escalate them so impediments get removed, and protect the team from outside interruptions.
  • Coach the team in Agile attributes and continuous improvement, encourage collaboration with stakeholders, step up as a leader in the moment when needed, and build high-performing habits.
  • Work with business stakeholders, product teams and vendors, and build trust with them.
  • Keep data accurate and represent the team at governance forums where required.
  • Set objectives for your people, coach them toward those goals, review their performance against objectives, and recommend reward outcomes.
  • If you lead people, show the company's LEAD behaviours: listen with authenticity, motivate and inspire, align work across the enterprise, and grow others.
  • If you work as an individual contributor, lead collaborative assignments, guide team members through structured work, bring in other specialists when needed, and propose new directions that combine cross-functional methods.
  • Advise People Leaders on complex escalated issues, help mitigate risk, and develop new policies and procedures that support control and governance.
  • Take ownership of risk management and strengthen controls for your work.
  • Analyse complex data from internal and external sources, including how other teams and companies handle similar work, to solve problems.
  • Explain complex or sensitive information clearly to different audiences, and influence stakeholders to reach outcomes.
  • Show the company's values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship, and its mindset of Empower, Challenge and Drive.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master supporting Agile delivery teams in complex technology or change environments.
  • Experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment, including Program Increment (PI) Planning, Inspect & Adapt events and ART Sync.
  • Demonstrated ability to run Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, manage dependencies and build high-performing teams.
  • Experience using Agile metrics and flow measures to improve delivery and make delivery more predictable.
  • Highly valued: SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification or other SAFe certifications.
  • Highly valued: experience working within Agile Release Trains (ARTs) alongside Product Owners, Release Train Engineers and other Scrum Masters.
  • Highly valued: knowledge of Agile engineering practices, DevOps, CI/CD and test automation.
  • Highly valued: experience coaching teams through Agile transformations and organisational change.
  • Highly valued: ability to analyse delivery data and find ways to improve flow, quality and team effectiveness.
  • You may be assessed on risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology skills, and job-specific technical skills.
