Description

The company makes robotic medical systems used in hospitals and manufacturing sites, and this is a field service role within its technical service team in Orlando, Florida.

You will work as an individual contributor under general direction, handling setup, installation support, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, movement, upgrades, and de-installation, with the goal of keeping systems available and customers satisfied.

You will build your technical skills through formal training, hands-on field work, and working alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional support teams.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, move, commission, and support installation of robotic medical systems and related equipment, and carry out preventive maintenance, repairs, calibration, testing, upgrades, and de-installs.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, software, firmware, and performance faults using approved service documents, diagnostic tools, system data, and logs.
  • Respond to planned and urgent service calls promptly and professionally to keep systems reliable and customers satisfied.
  • Carry out inspections, field actions, software and firmware updates, and service-tool validation, following released procedures.
  • Escalate complex or unfamiliar problems and work with experienced engineers, Technical Support, Service Innovation Engineering, and other partner teams.
  • Arrange service visits with hospital staff, covering equipment access, site readiness, operating-room needs, and safe equipment handling.
  • Keep service records complete and current, including work orders, field notes, parts used, time records, product performance data, and system configuration.
  • Look after spare parts, calibrated tools, service equipment, laptops, and other company assets under inventory and control rules.
  • Follow hospital rules, privacy requirements, infection control practices, GMP and ISO expectations, and all applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Plan your time and tasks to balance scheduled work, customer needs, paperwork, and travel.
  • Take part in technical and product training and pass useful field knowledge to colleagues.
  • Collect service data, spot repeat issues, and suggest practical changes that improve service.
  • Build and keep good working relationships with customers, colleagues, and partner teams.
  • Give clear status updates and report service risks, delays, and problems to the right support teams and leaders.

Requirements

  • An associate's degree in a related technical field, or an equivalent mix of education, military technical training, and hands-on experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience in field service, medical devices, robotics, capital equipment, or a similar technical setting.
  • Foundational knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, software, and computer-based troubleshooting.
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, sustaining support, calibration, functional testing, or preventive maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of regulated medical device environments, including quality systems, documentation, GMP and ISO, and safety.
  • Strong problem-solving skills: you can gather data, read system information, identify likely causes, and carry out corrective actions within your training.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate professionally with hospital staff, technical teams, and internal partners.
  • Clear written and spoken English.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize planned and unplanned work while keeping records accurate and timely.
  • Ability to work on your own on qualified tasks and also work well within a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with a CRM or service management system such as Microsoft Dynamics is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of parts, inventory, service tools, and controls for calibrated equipment.
  • Ability to learn standard software and firmware upgrade processes, remote support practices, and service tool workflows.
  • A valid driver's license, and the ability to meet hospital credentialing requirements where applicable.

Conditions

You will work in hospitals, operating room support areas, customer sites, and manufacturing environments.

You must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts, depending on customer and business needs.

You must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and work in tight or equipment-access spaces for long periods.

You must be able to lift up to 44 lbs and move service equipment or system parts, using proper tools, training, and help when needed.

Travel is about 80% local or regional, with up to 20% domestic (U.S.) travel as needed.

Extra hours may be required, including occasional evenings, long days, weekends, and holiday support.

This role is overtime eligible.

The company is committed to an inclusive interview process. Applicants who need an accommodation should contact the company through its careers contact page.
