Description

The company develops medical technology and is working on the ARIES program, an autonomous robotics and imaging system for stroke care.

The role focuses on robotic behavior that is deterministic, explainable and auditable in a real-time medical robotics setting.

The team spans architecture, control, electrical, software and partner groups.

The company has more than 72,000 staff across more than 70 countries.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and validate control logic for real-time actuation, safety-supervised motion and hardware/software integration.
  • Build real-time trajectory generation, including spline interpolation, motion profiles and joint-space and task-space planning.
  • Design and tune admittance and impedance control for force-based command modulation and safety filtering.
  • Use estimator outputs, signal processing and diagnostic data to spot unsafe, degraded or unreliable robot behavior.
  • Create clear, reusable interfaces that expose hardware signals, device states, sensor status, communication quality and diagnostics.
  • Validate robotic functions in simulation, hardware-in-the-loop setups, bench experiments and on real hardware.
  • Document assumptions, interfaces, safety limits, validation evidence and implementation behavior.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in robotics, mechanical, electrical or computer engineering, computer science, control engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience developing control algorithms for robotic, mechatronic, automation or similar cyber-physical systems.
  • Strong grounding in real-time trajectory generation, motion profiles, joint-space and task-space planning, and velocity and acceleration limits.
  • Practical knowledge of admittance and impedance control and of force-based, safety-supervised motion.
  • Ability to work with estimator outputs, disturbance terms, uncertainty indicators and estimator failure modes.
  • Experience with time-series analysis, filtering, trend detection and signal-quality assessment.
  • Hands-on work integrating control or robotics software in real-time, embedded, robotics or industrial automation settings.
  • Experience with C++, Python, Linux, ROS, DDS, MATLAB, Simulink or comparable robotics tools.
  • Ability to validate robot behavior through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, bench work and real hardware integration.
  • Optional: experience with autonomous, medical or image-guided therapy robotics, or other safety-critical cyber-physical systems.
  • Optional: familiarity with underactuated, continuum, catheter, guidewire or other flexible robots.
  • Optional: experience setting conservative safety thresholds with limited ground-truth data.
  • Optional: experience with medical device development, regulated product development or verification planning.
  • Optional: PhD in robotics, control systems, real-time systems or mechatronics.
  • You connect actuation, sensing, safety logic and software into reliable robot behavior.
  • You value deterministic behavior, testability, traceability and clear validation evidence.
