The job family covers engineering work across several disciplines: designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting and debugging systems, software and solutions for research, development and products, services and solutions in HPE's portfolio. It requires broad knowledge of engineering disciplines, methods and tools.

The role is at the Management Level, where contributions have visible technical impact on a product or major subcomponent. You apply deep expertise and new ideas to hard problems, and your work improves time-to-market, reduces costs or meets current and future customer needs. You are a recognised internal authority in a key technology area, provide technical leadership on significant projects and programs, and help with cross-functional work and mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert for HPE products including Mist Wireless and Wired Assurance, EX switches and SRX firewalls, helping customers with network design, troubleshooting, hardware and software testing, documentation, best practices and automation.
  • Provide primary technical support for break/fix work, using advanced diagnostics to restore service quickly and lower the chance of the fault returning.
  • Work with the customer-focused team to advise customers on Junos configuration best practices and network design.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and outsourced development partners on engineering design and development.
  • Review designs and project work against technology and development standards, and give constructive feedback to raise product quality.
  • Bring domain expertise and engineering leadership to cross-organisational projects and programs.
  • Introduce new technologies into engineering projects and designs.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 6+ years in data center routing, switching and network architecture, with hands-on work on HPE Juniper products such as the QFX, PTX and EX series.
  • A proven ability to build test automation and write Python scripts.
  • Experience testing, certifying and operating Mist Wireless Assurance, Wired Assurance, and Junos on EX and SRX.
  • Skill in empirical analysis, modelling and testing methods to validate product designs and specifications.
  • Proficiency with the engineering design tools used to design components and solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication in English and the local language, able to present product architectures and design proposals and negotiate options with senior management.
  • Experience with data center switching (VXLAN and EVPN) and WAN on platforms such as QFX, PTX and MX is a plus.
  • Up to 10% travel to customer sites may be required.

Conditions

Onsite work, primarily from an HPE partner or customer office.

Annual base salary in the United States of America: USD 119,500 to 275,000 in Texas, depending on location, experience, education, training and skill level. Variable incentives may also be offered.
