Description

The role is fully onsite, mainly based in a partner or customer office.

You will provide post-sales, on-site technical support for Juniper Networks products and solutions in a large service provider network operated by the client.

You will work closely with the client's network engineering, architecture and operations teams to keep the network highly available, scalable and well run.

Over time you will build deep expertise in the Juniper products already deployed and those planned, offering reactive and proactive support, design guidance and best-practice advice.

Responsibilities

  • Give daily post-sales operational support for production and pre-production networks.
  • Diagnose complex hardware, software and network faults across large IP/MPLS infrastructures.
  • Open, track and push Juniper JTAC cases to closure, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support the client through critical incidents, outages and escalations, keeping engineering, operations and leadership informed in clear terms.
  • Run information-gathering workshops to learn the current network architecture, operating workflows and future design needs.
  • Learn the client's organization, engineering standards and operating procedures in depth.
  • Advise on how the network design should evolve, including capacity growth and technology adoption in line with the client's roadmap.
  • Help with major upgrades, maintenance windows, migrations and change events.
  • Write clear, concise reports on project progress, network health, issues found and remediation work.
  • Lead workshops that review open issues and JTAC case status, explaining root causes, mitigations and long-term fixes.
  • Train client engineering, implementation and operations staff on configuring, monitoring and running Juniper platforms.
  • Assess the overall health and stability of Juniper-based environments.
  • Build and maintain fault isolation and diagnostic procedures.
  • Create and review SOPs and MOPs to spot gaps or anomalies that could cause network or service outages.
  • Help shape best-practice policies and standards for Juniper use across the client's network.
  • Share lessons learned with other resident engineers to lower risk during network changes.
  • Build secondary expertise in other Juniper product lines as needed.
  • Lab test, certify and integrate new hardware and major software releases before production rollout.
  • Build and maintain automation scripts that cut operational toil, improve consistency and speed up troubleshooting and provisioning.
  • Write and maintain Python automation tools for configuration validation and health checks.
  • Help client engineering and operations teams adopt network automation tools.
  • Contribute to documentation and internal tooling repositories that support automation work.

Requirements

  • You have 5+ years of hands-on design, deployment and operations experience in large service provider or MSO networks.
  • You have supported major network transformations, upgrades or expansions.
  • You have strong JUNOS CLI skills.
  • You have large-scale hands-on experience with MX, QFX, EX, ACX and PTX platforms.
  • You have a solid grasp of service provider networking, including TCP/IP and MPLS basics, the routing protocols OSPF, IS-IS and BGP, and MPLS-TE, RSVP and LDP.
  • You understand IPv4 and IPv6, BGP routing policy and peering, and VPN technologies L3VPN, VPLS and MVPN.
  • You know Ethernet switching, 802.1Q, and QoS / Class of Service.
  • You have hands-on Python scripting and Juniper PyEZ experience.
  • You can design automation that fits into existing operational workflows.
  • You communicate well during high-pressure outages and escalations.
  • You can present complex technical topics to engineering, operations and executive audiences.
  • You have strong customer-facing skills and a collaborative, consultative style.
  • You can turn business and technical requirements into practical, scalable network solutions.
  • You hold expert-level technical certifications: JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP and CCIE.
