Description

The company builds quantum processors, using its VIO architecture to work toward larger quantum computers.

As VIO scales up, the volume of measurement data, metadata and code is growing quickly. This role brings production-grade software and data practices into the R&D measurement work.

You will connect R&D, the software team in Product and the data team in Operations so their work stays aligned.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain how R&D measurement data and metadata are stored, linking each device to its tests, components and setup history so cross-device comparisons and yield questions can be answered with a quick query.
  • Turn prototype measurement code from experimental physicists and RF test engineers into robust, tested, maintainable software, and maintain the R&D measurement codebase for VIO devices, their components and PCM test vehicles.
  • Standardize experimental workflows as channel counts, PCMs, test vehicles and test setups grow, so measurement throughput does not become the bottleneck.
  • Review, refactor and maintain modular Python code using modern practices such as PyTest, CI/CD, documentation and version control.
  • Work day to day with experimental physicists, RF test engineers and electrical engineers to improve their measurement code, and bring best practices in from the software team in Product.
  • Own R&D software from validation and review through to integration.

Requirements

  • An MSc in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a similar field, plus at least 3 years of industry experience.
  • Experience building software that interacts with hardware, for example in manufacturing, test and measurement, lab or factory automation, or control systems.
  • Strong Python skills, with a record of improving and maintaining code for data acquisition, automation or scientific pipelines.
  • Experience with databases and cloud platforms such as GCP and AWS for technical or experimental data.
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented design, Git, code review and testing frameworks.
  • A drive to remove manual measurement and analysis work.
  • Comfort working across disciplines in a scaling multidisciplinary team, translating between experimental hardware teams and production software teams in Operations and Product.
  • Hands-on experience controlling test and measurement equipment is a plus, and experience in a quantum device foundry or test facility is a strong plus.
  • Nobody meets every requirement. If most of this fits and you want to close the gaps, apply. The company hires for potential and growth rather than perfection.

Conditions

Hybrid working, with a focus on outcomes.

Equal opportunity employer; applicants are considered regardless of background.

Benefits

  • A competitive salary that reflects the impact of the role, plus an 8% holiday allowance.
  • A pension plan with partner and dependent coverage.
  • An open vacation policy.
  • A learning and development budget for each team member, based on individual ambitions, development needs and performance.
  • Team events, offsites and informal get-togethers.
