Public Cloud - Forward Deployed Engineer (VP)

Description

The team builds and runs a public cloud container fleet management service that supports the company's secure, enterprise-scale use of the public cloud.

The team's work includes a cloud-based high-performance compute platform for large risk calculations, GenAI capabilities used at scale, and payments solutions.

This is a full-time VP role in the Applications Development group within Technology, covering the public cloud strategy as a forward deployed engineer.

Responsibilities

• Write code hands-on as part of a product team, supporting the public cloud container fleet management service.
• Work alongside cloud engineers and full-stack developers to build and deploy solutions that move the public cloud strategy forward.
• Find and build automation that makes public cloud service consumption easier, improving client satisfaction and business value.
• Work with other technology teams across the company so public cloud initiatives line up with wider business goals.
• Help define and track success measures for service availability and reliability in your product area.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building enterprise-grade applications, with deep public cloud knowledge and a commitment to sound engineering practice.
• Full-stack development experience focused on AWS and GCP, with hands-on engineering skill.
• Languages: Python, Java and Go.
• AI/ML: prompt engineering, LLMs, RAG, semantic search, vector databases, and similar.
• Behaviour-driven development testing tools such as Cucumber, JBehave, Pytest-BDD, and similar.
• CI/CD pipelines such as Harness, Tekton, Jenkins, and similar.
• Experience with middleware and distributed messaging, including Kafka.
• Experience with MongoDB and SQL databases.
• Familiarity with domain-driven design and event-driven architecture.
• Familiarity with Agile, DevOps and SRE practices.
• A record of learning new technologies quickly and adapting when project requirements change.
• Experience assessing complex requirements and turning them into a consistent service offering.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.

Conditions

Hybrid working model with up to 2 days a week working from home.
