Low Latency Java Developer, Vice President

Description

This is a senior engineering and architecture leadership role in the global Client Risk and Position Management technology group.

The team builds low latency, high throughput risk platforms that run real-time credit checks, intraday position aggregation, margin valuation, anomaly detection and live risk limit enforcement for trading desks worldwide.

You will work across Asia, Europe and the Americas as the main regional and global technical contact for risk managers, product owners, front-office trading desks and other technology partners.

The team uses AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot, Devin and generative coding assistants, and you will help adopt and prototype them.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end architecture and low-level design of distributed, fault-tolerant, highly concurrent risk calculation and position management engines for global trading sessions.
• Write, review and tune multi-threaded production code, mainly in Java 17/21+, with targeted low-latency modules in C++ and possibly Rust where memory safety and deterministic execution matter.
• Drive the use of AI development workflows, such as GitHub Copilot, Devin, AI-assisted code review and automated test generation, to lift productivity, modernize legacy parts and shorten delivery times.
• Design resilient, low-latency event-driven pipelines on messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka, Solace PubSub+ and other low-latency middleware.
• Profile and benchmark CPU use, memory layout, GC overhead, serialization and IPC to reach microsecond and sub-millisecond latency.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for risk managers, product owners, trading desks, quantitative analysts and operations across APAC and global hubs.
• Work with engineering pods in Singapore, London, New York and other tech centres to keep rollouts smooth, operations stable and architecture consistent.
• Coordinate with upstream OMS and EMS systems, market data feeds, and downstream clearing, settlement and regulatory reporting platforms across FX, equities, rates, commodities and credit.
• Turn quantitative risk models, margin methods and regional and global regulations into scalable, deterministic architecture.
• Coach mid-level and junior engineers in Singapore and other regional teams on distributed systems design, clean code and AI-assisted engineering.
• Lead architecture design reviews and detailed peer code reviews focused on reliability, security and maintainability.
• Work with engineering managers and Scrum Masters across time zones on sprint planning, estimates, dependencies and milestones.

Requirements

• Strong modern Java skills (17/21+), including JVM internals, memory management and profiling, lock-free data structures, concurrent programming and low-latency tuning.
• Desirable: practical experience with C++ (14/17/20) and/or Rust for performance-critical or memory-safe components, including cross-language interop via JNI or FFI.
• A bachelor's degree or university degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or an equivalent STEM field.
• Desirable: a master's degree in computer science, financial engineering or a related quantitative field.

Conditions

Full-time role.

Salary range at the primary location: $120,800.00 - $170,800.00.
