Description

The company builds and maintains transmission lines and distribution networks above and below ground across the West Coast, and also repairs infrastructure damaged by natural disasters.

The role keeps the power grid running and takes the work seriously, with safety as a central concern.

Responsibilities

  • Manage every phase of large, complex projects, or several large projects at once, and lead, mentor and guide the people who report to you.
  • Own project outcomes from the initial proposal and bid through to profitable completion, meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Put safety first: promote a strong safety culture among employees, vendors and customers, follow health and safety policies and regulations, and flag or correct hazards and unsafe conduct.
  • Directly supervise Associate Project Managers and Project Managers, including interviewing and training staff, planning and assigning work, giving feedback, and handling complaints and problems within company policy and applicable law.
  • Review proposals and project plans to understand scope, timeline, funding limits, delivery methods, staffing needs and how resources are split across phases, working with limited supervision and guiding project staff.
  • Build lasting relationships with clients and general and subcontractors, on site and through outside networking, and keep clients informed at all times.
  • Set out work plans, assign tasks, run productive meetings, present to small and large groups, and resolve problems or escalate them when needed.
  • Manage contracts from first discussions through final close-out. After award and execution, act as the contact for internal and external customers on contract matters and review and approve variations in a timely way.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in project management, construction management, engineering or a related field, plus 5+ years of related experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Experience with transmission and distribution projects.
  • Experience with EPC projects.
  • Experience with project management software such as Primavera or Microsoft Project.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork skills, reliability, self-motivation, organization and a professional manner, and the ability to make decisions quickly.
  • PMP or PE certification is desired.
  • A valid driver's license for the vehicle types you may drive, with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel.

Conditions

Base salary range of $155,000 - $180,000 USD. The actual figure depends on skills, experience, education and other job-related factors permitted by law, and the range may vary by location.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, life, flexible spending accounts, a health savings account, short- and long-term disability insurance, a 401(k) plan, a legal plan, and identity theft monitoring. Eligible plans may differ by position and location.
  • An average investment of $5,000 per employee in training each year.
  • Membership in a family-owned company that is part of one of North America's largest energy and infrastructure contractor groups.
