Description

The company is hiring a relocation project manager on a fixed term contract.

The company does industrial work in energy, food, water and shipping, and builds its own technology for those areas. It is a long-established firm that still runs with a start-up approach.

The role covers two steps: first find options for moving the service centre and office, then lead the move under legal processes. The current site is in Camberley, Surrey. You will be based in Camberley for the whole project, with some flexibility to work from home.

You will report to the Service Division Manager and own the activities needed to move and set up the new operations.

On project matters you will report to a steering committee made up of key stakeholders and the UK Management Team and central roles.

The service centre holds standalone equipment used to service and maintain the core equipment, supported by standard industrial ancillary equipment.

The current facility includes medium to heavy precision engineering machines such as lathes, CNC machines, grinders and boring equipment, plus high speed balancing machines, chemical cleaning tanks, pressure washers, extraction systems and LEV units. It also has liquid nitrogen tanks and systems, overhead cranes, welding equipment, ovens and spray booths.

Responsibilities

  • Write the project proposal and chronogram.
  • Deliver the project to the agreed programme and within the approved budget.
  • Keep LTI frequency below the AL ambition level.
  • Identify and manage all potential environmental incident risks.
  • Keep the business running through every stage of the move.
  • Commission all equipment successfully, then complete handover and operational acceptance.
  • Complete all statutory inspections and certifications.
  • Lead site acceptance and operational readiness.
  • Compile the documentation pack, which includes but is not limited to the asset register, O&M manuals, warranty information, commissioning reports, test and inspection reports, and the final project close out.

Requirements

  • You are organised, structured and keep to agreed timelines.
  • You are self-motivated and find practical solutions to problems.
  • You communicate well, build relationships with internal and external customers, and explain complex situations and solutions clearly.
  • You manage your time and organise your work well, and adjust when plans change.
  • Essential: a formal project management qualification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, PMP or an equivalent.
  • Essential: NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health and safety experience.
  • Essential: experience managing industrial contractors.
  • Desirable: an engineering qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Desirable: CDM experience.
  • Desirable: IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Desirable: SMSTS.
  • Desirable: COSHH certification.
  • You are likely to have experience, though this list is not exhaustive, in: heavy machine relocation; foundation design and review; installation and commissioning, including alignment; compressed air, drainage, utility and electrical distribution systems; overhead cranes and lifting equipment; gas and fire systems, including HVAC.
  • You have run industrial relocations such as manufacturing set-ups, workshop moves, capital projects of $5 million+ and multi-site programmes.
  • You have commissioned equipment and made it operational, and you have set and kept to budgets.
  • You report project progress and milestones, and you work with QHSE teams to set and apply best practice and meet all relevant regulations.
  • You manage multi-discipline subcontractors and suppliers, making sure scope is finished safely and to regulation.
  • You make sure equipment meets specification and is commissioned to the user's requirements.
  • You find and bring on new subcontractors and suppliers through the internal supply chain, and you use internal processes and systems to deliver projects.

Conditions

Fixed term contract.

Based in Camberley, Surrey for the full project, with some home-based flexibility.

Background checks are run on final candidates, and you must show your right to work in the UK.

Selection uses Pymetrics games, which every applicant must play.

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Simply Health cash plan worth over £2,500 a year.
  • Life assurance of 4 times annual salary while you stay in the pension.
  • Access to suitable permanent roles towards the end of the contract.
