R&D Senior Project Manager

Description

The company develops innovative products for sustainable energy infrastructure, and this R&D Senior Project Manager role leads product development projects from concept to launch.

You will balance scope, schedule, cost, quality and risk while keeping projects aligned with business strategy and customer needs.

You will work with engineering, product management, manufacturing and leadership, shaping key decisions and project governance across the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead technology and development projects for electro-mechanical products and systems, using stage-gate and waterfall processes.
• Keep objectives aligned with business strategy, customer requirements and technology roadmaps, and steer each project from start to finish.
• Build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, guide discussions, and resolve disagreements through structured communication and data.
• Explain complex technical and business topics to senior management and steering committees.
• Write project business cases with Global Product Managers, support investment approvals, and set up and track budgets, forecasts and spending.
• Create plans, schedules and work breakdown structures, allocate resources across disciplines, and correct deviations quickly.
• Report project status and health indicators transparently.
• Lead risk identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring, coordinate HSE assessments, support IP risk and freedom-to-operate analysis, and escalate risks early.
• Make sure R&D processes, development gates, quality requirements and standards are followed, and support FMEA, design and technical reviews, validation and verification planning, documentation, and lessons learned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, project management, business administration or a related field.
• Experience leading cross-functional product development in industrial, electromechanical, engineering, manufacturing or similar settings.
• Experience running projects through the full product development lifecycle.
• Familiarity with stage-gate, waterfall or equivalent project development methods.
• Strong skills in planning, leadership, communication and organization.
• Ability to influence stakeholders, guide decisions and align teams.
• Knowledge of risk management, project governance, validation and verification, and quality frameworks.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Preferred: PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum or an equivalent project management certification.
• Preferred: experience leading R&D, new product or technology development projects.
• Preferred: experience in the power, energy, industrial equipment, electromechanical or manufacturing sectors.
• Preferred: familiarity with PLM systems and project portfolio management tools.
• Preferred: experience working with global or geographically distributed teams.
