Project Manager - Microsoft Technologies

Description

The company runs IT projects for external clients, and this role manages several of them across their full life cycle, within the approved Statement of Work and the company's PMO delivery method.

You will lead IT professional services teams that design, plan, deliver and implement Microsoft services such as M365 migrations, Identity Services with Active Directory, CoPilot, InTune and Security, aiming for on-time, on-budget results and strong client service.

Day to day, the work covers planning and coordinating projects, communicating with clients and internal staff, managing project costs, and leading both client-side and internal technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Apply a solid grasp of the Microsoft services offered, including M365 migrations, Identity Services with Active Directory, CoPilot, InTune and Security.
• Plan, schedule and direct the daily work of assigned engagements, and record and share key activity and status details using Agile or Waterfall, depending on the service delivered.
• Lead with clear direction and strong example to keep service delivery and processes on track.
• Run each project through planning, execution, control and closure under the company's Project Management Methodology.
• Supervise deliverables from third-party vendors or partners to the company, working with each vendor's project manager.
• Keep the engagement well run from start to finish: follow company policy, make sure consultants log time as required, schedule resources so they work to plan, and oversee workflow and the tools used to deliver services.
• Keep work inside the SOW. When new scope appears, lead change management and prepare a Project Change Request.
• Meet or beat the project budget, make sure invoices go out on time, and track and report Earned Value throughout the project.
• Build and maintain the master project plan, compare actual progress with milestones, investigate variances, and correct course to keep the schedule. Share progress with the team and stakeholders.
• Identify and record known risks throughout the engagement and apply suitable mitigation.
• Write a Communication Plan that sets the rhythm and content of meetings, status reports and escalations for customers, stakeholders and the project team.
• Make sure deliverables are verified, validated and handed over as the SOW requires, and that the customer is satisfied with the service.
• Apply project management methods, practices, tools and techniques, and collaborate effectively in a matrixed organisation.
• Record lessons learned and share them to improve processes over time.
• Keep up with relevant technology and the company's service portfolio, and understand common IT terms used on your projects.
• Show commitment to the company's mission and values.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in a related field and formal project management training. An equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted.
• At least 5 years of enterprise project management experience, running several projects at once for multiple external customers and leading teams of 1 to 20+ people on enterprise Microsoft service offerings.
• Proficiency across Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project or Smartsheet, and experience using Project and/or PS business applications to plan, manage and report on delivered services.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
• CAPM, SCRUM, Microsoft and/or other IT industry technical certifications are beneficial.
