Description

The company is a leading international hydropower business and Europe's largest generator of renewable energy. It also produces wind, solar and gas-fired power, operates in global energy markets, and has around 6,200 employees in 20 countries.

The European Wind and Solar business area develops and owns wind and solar assets in Europe. It also runs delivery of large projects, manages group procurement and looks for new business.

You would join the Solar Project Delivery Unit, which delivers large onshore wind, solar and battery storage projects in Ireland and the UK. You would report to the Delivery Manager for Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and administer the construction of solar projects, from organising the work through to delivery.
  • Coordinate the project team, including external consultants, contractors and service providers.
  • Plan continuously, track cost, schedule and quality, and report project status to senior management.
  • Deliver the requirements set out in the project charter.
  • Put health, safety and environmental requirements into practice, monitor and report on project HSE, and manage planning and environmental permit conditions.
  • Apply anti-corruption controls by assessing and addressing risks, delivering training, reporting incidents openly and monitoring contractors, with project reporting following the company's internal framework.
  • Keep communication and coordination running between project staff and parties at regional, country and corporate level.
  • Hold regular project meetings, record minutes and agreed actions, track spend, progress, payments and variations, and maintain project documentation.
  • Manage tenders for work packages.
  • Direct input from the technical design team to finalise project designs.
  • Use the company's internal tools for payments, project tracking, safety, contract management and risk management.
  • Help build the construction team's skills across wind, solar, battery storage and other renewables, while upholding high environmental and HSE standards.

Requirements

  • A university degree in engineering or natural sciences, with well-documented extensive experience.
  • A track record of managing renewable energy development projects through to construction delivery of large-scale infrastructure.
  • A clear interest in renewables. Ideally you have worked on construction processes and environmental assessments for wind, solar, battery and other renewable projects.
  • Full responsibility for project budgets and schedules from early development through to construction.
  • A solid technical understanding of renewable energy technology, including contracts and technical appendices for main technology supply agreements.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and management skills, with good organisation, a results focus and the ability to set priorities.
  • Excellent use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project or equivalent tools, working knowledge of AutoCAD, SharePoint and other applications.
  • The ability to frame issues concisely, covering context, analysis, recommendations and risk versus benefit, in both written and verbal form.
  • Self-driven, able to carry a heavy workload, sometimes support colleagues' processes, and juggle competing deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Conditions

Hybrid working.

Background checks may be carried out on qualified candidates before hire, which may include a conflict of interest statement, as the company manages critical infrastructure in several countries.

Applications are welcome from people of any gender, age, nationality, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability or background.

Benefits

  • Pay and conditions are competitive, along with benefit schemes.
  • Work on renewable energy that helps move society toward low emissions.
  • Professional and personal development at a large international company.
  • Career and learning opportunities at many levels of the organisation.
  • Access to a global network of experts, leaders, specialists and graduates from many countries.
  • A working environment that values competence, responsibility, innovation and a strong commercial focus.
  • A workplace with a varied mix of gender, age and cultural backgrounds.
