Description

You will lead projects for new product introductions (NPI) and new business opportunities, drawn either from the company's own pipeline or from third-party customers.

You will own the early planning, due diligence and technical feasibility work for these opportunities, and act as the customer-facing lead for each NPI program. Responsibility passes to the site manufacturing and support teams once the product is handed over for ongoing production.

You will coordinate with research and development, finance, regulatory affairs, central MS&T, engineering, commercial and brand or franchise teams to turn business opportunities into feasibility plans, known as business cases.

The company discovers and delivers medicines in immunology, oncology and neuroscience, and also runs an aesthetics portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Run every part of your NPI projects, from strategic decisions and stakeholder management to scheduling, team meetings, budgets, communication, and supplier and customer relationships.
  • Lead and manage a team of 5 to 8 project managers.
  • Give technical input that shapes the overall strategy for early planning, due diligence and feasibility work on potential new products.
  • Define the NPI strategy for the site, including stage and gate meetings and timelines that meet program goals.
  • Work with senior site management to build and carry out the project development plan and the deliverables for the governance board, and lead governance board meetings.
  • Form a group of subject matter experts and key stakeholders to develop and maintain the new product development technology strategy and drive key NPI initiatives.
  • Manage, through a matrix structure, site operations staff who plan, implement and deliver NPI projects.
  • Set up project teams, charters, ground rules and timelines. Build and run project and risk plans, covering timelines, milestones, metrics and the critical path, and escalate issues when needed.
  • Prepare and assess cost and resource forecasts for potential new business, and act as the main contact for them.
  • Make sure all NPI programs are consistent and compliant.
  • Oversee NPI projects closely so deliverables are completed on time.

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a related field such as science, engineering or business, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of total experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • At least 3 years of technical transfer and new product launch experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting, including managing large, complex programs and cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of the drug development process and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of quality and supply chain systems.
  • A record of leading teams as a project manager and technical transfer manager.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, finance, cost accounting and team management.
