Description

You will keep day-to-day operations running so projects finish on time and within budget.

You will start by helping estimate new and upcoming work, then set the execution strategy for large, complex powerline builds by lining up people and resources to meet operational targets. From there you will carry out the plan and schedule, oversee safety and quality, and hand out work to the project team, subcontractors and others.

The company is one of North America's most diversified construction firms, with a long record of completed projects. The team works on powerline and utility construction across Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Lead health, safety and environmental protection on the project by applying the Project Specific Safety Program and keeping every employee and subcontractor compliant with company HS&E standards, OH&S legislation, regulations and codes.
  • Lead subcontractor and supplier selection, purchasing and negotiation on complex and design-build projects.
  • Own pursuit estimates by checking direct and indirect costs, and assign and track bid package work.
  • Carry out quantity takeoffs on large, complex bids and oversee the takeoff process, reviewing the summaries.
  • Build and update the construction schedule with the team to hit milestones and completion dates.
  • Run project meetings and the project quality program, track progress and make sure materials arrive as needed.
  • Work with the team to find and manage risks and opportunities that affect schedule and financial results.
  • Track, report on and forecast project finances, including billings.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience managing powerline construction or similar utility or industrial construction projects.
  • 3+ years of combined estimating experience on powerline construction projects.
  • Experience as a project manager or in a comparable hands-on management or supervisory role.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and current building practices and methods.
  • Strong negotiation and management skills, and the ability to organize your time across several competing priorities.
  • A solid grasp of construction costs and budgets, and the ability to plan and control a project schedule.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work with many stakeholders, anticipate their needs and propose solutions before problems grow.
  • A record of building and leading teams, encouraging collaboration through coaching, motivation and consensus-building.

Conditions

Work at sites across Ontario on rotating shifts of 5/2, 10/4 or 14/7.

Office-based when not assigned to a project.

Base pay ranges from $108,000.00 to $148,500.00.

Final base pay depends on experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.

The company is an equal-opportunity employer that encourages all qualified applicants to apply regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, Veteran status or any other identifying characteristic, and accommodations are available throughout hiring.

Benefits

  • A total rewards package that supports physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
